My coworker has a TC3+ and was recently given this 2WD buggy/truck/whatever. It has a TORO .12 in it, pull start, with adjustable suspension and an aluminum tub. Anyone know what it might be? We're hoping to throw some servos in it, clean the engine up, and see what happens...

Its looking like an AE GT but some of the parts don't look quite right. One of the parts being the one mounted on the rear shock tower with the hole in it. The rear suspension screams Losi. I "Believe" AE used caster blocks in the rear.

I shouldn't be guessing but this one is a mystery to me as well.

its definitly duratrax. look at the pipe and the head and the shocks.

edit: plus look at the sticker on the side of the servo: DURATRAX

OK, checked out the Duratrax site and can't find anything just like it yet. Maybe the Duratrax parts came from another model. It is a TORQ (with a Q) engine, not TORO and the manual for the engine is on the Duratrax site. More looking...

Thanks...

Update...

It looks like it is a Maximum ST. 2WD 1/10th "monster" truck...

circa 1998 model

Somewhere along the lines someone has added metal strips for bumpers and there's a U-channel screwed to the bottom (really ruins ground clearance, not sure why it is there). The body posts are missing and it needs a reciever and a steering servo. I've printed all of the Duratrax fliers and exploded parts views for it as well for my coworker...

Anyone ever seen one of these run? It needs a bearing kit, the OE is bushings...

Something for him to tinker with I guess. Can't beat free!

Thanks...

it probably has a torq.21 like the thunder quake, and if it does than your robbing your power cause that muffler is made for .12-.16 engines

No, it's definitely a .12...

They had the .12 in the ST, .16 in the ST Pro, and the .21 in a few other models, including the TQ you mentioned....

poop!! your right! i just now realized that my friend sold that to me once then i sold it to someone else like a day l8er. it is a maximum st!

btw, are you selling it. i have a couple servos in an old kyosho that will prob work. if so, pm me about it.

looks like a custom job with different brands of parts on it. Its not a Duratrax or AE GT for sure. Its hard to tell but it looks like it has buggy arms on it. The gear box and front pivot block may be AE GT but the shock towers and arms aren't. Front pivot block looks like it has been cut down to fit the arms on it. But I wouldn't know since I have only been doing this for 9 months now. Just know what it isn't.

no its a stock maximum st i have one that looks just like it

yeah i thought it was stock too. i had one, for like a day, but pinblaster swears its mixed.

My friend just got it. He's going to get a simple AM radio and a few service parts and chase his dog around with it (since his TC3 gets little use these days around the house). So no, it's not for sale, at least at this time...

Manuals in PDF format are still available on the Duratrax web site. Looks like the steering servo mounts and radio tray are missing on your buddy's car.

Yup, I noticed that too. I already printed out the manual and exploded views for him and he'll be getting the parts he needs and a simple AM setup soon to get it on the road. I told him I'd take a look at the engine and go through it for him. It looks like it has been on a shelf without an air filter for a while!
