Its a Remington 870 Express 12ga. Took apart my gun to clean it after putting some rounds threw and noticed this on top of the breech bolt. I bought it about a year ago and it has less than 1000 rounds threw and has been treated very well. It looks like something is bending and almost shaving back the metal. Much help would be appreciated on this.

Wow that's a new one. Did you check the breech for scarring? And did you push in what would be the top side in the photo's? It looks bent in, like maybe something is stuck on the side of the breech. Could be a small piece of a shot shell or maybe a clump from a cleaning brush. Just spitballing here so might not be either of those. Also after taking a second look at the last pic your bolt is hitting hard on something along the way in. Check to be sure everything is sliding in right not pushed up or to the side.

That is the back side of the extractor. To me it just looks like a casting flaw that wasn't properly ground down.

Wish I lived closer than 3 hours from my dad. We bought him a 1187 premier for fathers day quite a few years ago. He's had it torn down many times for maintenance. At the very least, he'd be able to compare the two.

Too bad they don't show real photo's in the manual:

Nice gun to use though.

The whole inner piece (lighter metal) moves on a pivot of some sort in the middle. Its not bent at all thats just the way it was positioned in the picture. I checked the breech and it all looks fine to me. Nothing looked out of the ordinary. That part of the bolt stays level or under the whole breech bolt and doesn't contact anything so my guess is that its a manufacturing flaw.
