I hope I'm not breaking some sort of rule by asking this question here but I'm tempted to hold a raffle on my Greywolf Studios Facebook page. Would any of you guys be interested in such a thing? Trying to gauge interest to see if theres enough to pull it off.

The reason Woodie doesn't do raffles anymore is because Paypal had rules against it and wont allow it. Seems like he got in trouble last time he did it too.

I thought they had to be government approved maybe regulated cause something about the proceeds going to charity? I know a guy on a Canadian forum I belong to got kicked off cause he was advertising them on there and it had something to do with that.

I don't know I'm probably completely wrong.

Not to piss in your cheerios, but I would never participate in a raffle of this nature. There is no way to prove the "winner" wasn't your best friend, or even a made up name of your own, with no prize ever really being awarded. Not saying at all that this is something you would do, but it is too easy to collect a bunch of money for a raffle that no one ever had a chance of winning, for someone so inclined to do so. Secondly, if you use paypal to collect funds, and they find out, they will shut down your pp account and ban you from using pp, it is against their tos to use their site to collect funds for lotteries or raffles, as it is gambling. So, in my case, no, I would not be interested. Sorry.

Hmmm I didnt realize all that. Theres a Canadian RC Hobby Shop owner that does raffles all the time. I have a couple of things that I want to get rid of that are still new in the box and I thought raffling them off might be a fun and more lucrative way of unloading the items than placing them on an RC site or ebay and having them take a chunk of whatever it happens to sell for and at the same time give someone a shot of winning an item for very little investment but yeah I dont want to end up getting in trouble with paypal or having someone accuse me of not actually running a legit raffle. Thanks for the input guys.

Prolly better just use ebay or just post it for sale here. RCNT rules also say no contests or giveaways.
