Try to go twords Atlas and Bachman(I think Lionel went out of business or so I heard.). I try to stay away from Life-Like if at all possible.

Actually Lionel is still in business, in fact they just finished the buyout of K-Line and MTH settled with them over the "Railsounds" issue. I have a few Atlas HO diesels and I love them. They will pull a pretty long consist without any problems. I would like to add a steamer to my HO lineup. I am still waiting for Lionel to come out with a B&O, or C&O steamer to my liking. Thanks for the info.

P.S. The lionel stuff has been sitting in a box...I need to go down to the hobby shop and get them refurbished. One car is missing a set of wheels and others are missing rails and doors.

Some of your Lionel stuff is pretty rare, Spit.

Tom, I model in Nn3, N, HO, and 027. BTW, where I think Spit gets a little confused is that there is tow standards in "O". There is "O" and "027" gauge and "O" scale, so that does make a difference.

Out here in CA we have no basements usually so I went to N for that reason. I have a shelf HO layout just for giggles.

Check this out if you ever get in true scale "O":

I have over $10,000 in rolling stock and motive power plus misc in storage. My State Farm guy hates me. My rider on my homeowners kills me. I used to trade Microtrains N scale on NSC. I'll PM you my Cell and personal E-Mail if you ever need to chat. I have been doing this since I was a toddler, and being German, raised in the NE, this is all we did every winter. Big in Germany, let me tell you.

Glad I found nitro R/C though. I always wanted to fly but it looked so complex. Started about 2 years ago as a newb in R/C cars, but now love it. I can handle the pace of the two vastly different hobbies!

Sorry bro...everything is a bit vague on the whole "O" scale. I'm used to my trusty HO. I used to have a huge layout. 2 4x8 boards stuck together with an opening in the middle. That might seem small, but for HO it's huge(Unless you're one of those guys in Model Railroader like Revo and have all the time in the world and spend 200 hours making a fricken tressle!!!)! Sorry, have to bust your chops Revo. If any of you ever go to Epcot in Orlando, visit Germany as Revo said. There's a pretty cool garden "G" layout.

Revo, now that I moved, I have no space for my trains!! Would you mind sending me a picture of that shelf layout? I'd really like to get back into my passion and the circle on the floor just ain't cuttin' it.

BTW Revo, I'll have to take a picture of my barrel loader I have. It's machined so that it drops the barrels into those funny red gondolas. Also, what's rare? I'm just pretty curious(Hit me a PM and we can discuss this stuff).

Spit, time is better later in week. I will PM or e-mail you. I have links.

Hey spit nice peice of info there. hey i was wondering since i was about 10 i had this idea in my head about building some kind of set thing with realistic sceanery and stuff. you know like you would usually would. but i would like to also incorperate slot cars into the mix. like use the tracks as roads and have like 2 and 3 line streets. do you think this would work with out with many problems?

something like a mix of this and this

Hey Revo,

PM me anytime. I am always in the mood to talk RC's or Trains. It is nice that I am finally going to have some space to actually spread out and get away from the small christmas tree layouts. It is going to take some time though. Building a train table is not small task.

I am glad I got back into RC after such a long break. I have only had one year of Nitro experience though, so I am learning every day. I am also glad I found this site. Great folks and I have formed many friendships with folks I have never seen. Aint technology great!

Tom

I know all about no space for trains. I have a small N scale switching layout. Just 4 1/2' and 1'. I have managed to squeeze in some narrow staging along the wall, too.

Luckily, I find just watching the trains running to be pretty boring, so I don't need (or even have a use for) continuous running. Just five cars to set out, and another five to pick up, keeps me occupied for over an hour. It's relaxing. :)

Grey, when I lived back east we had a huge basement and I had a layout that covered about half of it. It was kinda neat to run a long consist and still do some switching in a yard while waiting for the white flagger to come back into town. I can only imagine how much I would spend on a similar size layout these days as the new toys are so much better than they were even in the mid-late '70s.
