You sure do know alot about radio man. Is it even worth putting the CB in my truck? will it ever do me any good?

Sorry, had to go wash the truck, but i stand corrected. I dont know if uniden has picked up the 700meg setup yet. That one is i believe for the 800 system cuz one of our officers has one to keep track of city police in his unit.

Here are the frequencies (mHz) covered:

Note: The scanner’s frequency coverage is not continuous and does not include
the cellular telephone or UHF TV bands.

It's set up for 700+ mHz at this time. But, as encryption technology gets better scanner companies are going to have a hard time keeping up without having to charge a proverbial "Arm and a leg" to produce the hardware necessary to "follow" users in the Trunked system.

For the record, I do not have one of these new systems because $600 for a scanner would really cut into the ol' RC budget!

About the only time a CB is worth it anymore is on a commute. Getting traffic updates from truckers still happens, but fewer and fewer "oldtimers" are in the game today and the new breed of trucker is about useless (just ask Alpine!).

That is true, i keep a CB in my unit, just so if i get into a pursuit, i can stay in contact with the truckers to help out with roadblocks. They are pretty good about that, and with their help we end pursuits pretty quickly. And we keep our "banter" off of the police radios and talk freely on channel 35 on cb.
