Although I drive a T Maxx, I bought my son a Traxxas Nitro Stampede to get him started. The only problem I'm having is with the braking system. It seems the stock brake rotor is made from plastic. I managed to melt and deform mine pretty good (don't ask...). The brakes on my T Maxx are great, but use a different type of rotor material.

Does anyone know of any aftermarket (or any other) solutions to get this thing to stop better?

Thanks

I believe Traxxas sells a hop-up carbon fiber pad for the Stampede. I know they sell one for the TMaxx as it is the one I run. Do you have a hobby shop you can go to that can order one for you?

Yeah, since I posted the topic I have since found out that Traxxas sells part number 4884X, which is the carbon fiber one. Unfortunately no one has one so I guess I'll try to order one...
(I hait to wait!)

Thanks

BRAKES.....we dont need no stinkin brakes....

just use a nice solid wall to stop it....:jk:

naw dont do that...i have the carbon fiber brake on my max and they work very well

There is one solution that doubles the friction surfaces using stock disks. If you buy an extra disk and shoe set you can pop in a second disk and one extra shoe. (Three shoes around two disks.) This requires grinding of the brass button or brake piston but I've found it extremely effective. Shortening the fuel tubing snubber on the brake linkage also makes a world of difference.

I've done this on a Maxx. I'm not familiar with the Stampede setup. I'm guessing it could be similar. This might be overkill for a 2WD.
