Any good Electric Bashers?

Hey everyone... I always have these thoughts about why I'm still in RC. I dont really like all the money I've spent, and being I have 2 nitro cars, I'm always fixing something. Wether its the clutch on my savage, or the pullstart on my buggy. Or simply tuning these things, maybe the price of gas?

Anyway, I have thought about selling out my stuff and just maybe getting one electric basher. It seems like all the tough trucks are nitro.

I would want it to be 4wd preferably. Able to go off road, and durable.

If I got out of rc, what would I do with my spare time? I'm bored enough as it is... Please help.

The way I see it a nice RC10GT or Losi XXX T will be fine for an ST. But since you want 4wd.... I would consider the Losi buggy. they have a 2 and 4 wheel flavors. Ever thought of a mini with a brushless?

I heard the E-maxx was a good electric v.s the nitro version t maxx. If you want to go with micro get the rc18 with a mamba. This little guy is a freaking tank.

well, emaxx's I heared are crappy stock. I've read that EVX's arent very reliable, and you need almost RPM all around for it to be bash worthy.

I have considered a brushless mini, I had my 8 cell rc18mt with mamba 6800 until I sold it. I sold it to buy my hyper 7.

I sold it because those mini's, you can jump them nice and high but the wind will turn them a bit and you can't really ever land straight. Plus, the rc18 differentials arent very good. I also dont like how soft the screws are on the mini's.

I took my T-Maxx that I sunk 2K into and melded it with a E-Maxx chassis and tranny with some tranny gear upgrades. Threw in a Novak Brushless set-up with 2 7-cell IB-3800 packs and voila...hardcore basher without all the nitro hassle. I actually prefer it over my nitros.

so your saying you had a t-maxx, put $2,000 into it then changed it to an emaxx chassis, put some more upgrades in, then threw in a brushless system, with 2 IB 3800 packs? I would do that except for the fact that thats like $2,500

If your looking for an MT I would suggest the Kyosho Twin Force. About the same Size as the Savage, fwd, plus it comes as a kit which is a nice build btw. The only thing you need to buy right away is the helical ring gears, the ones for the Mad Force and your set! With the evx and stock motors it's as fast as the E Maxx but it is a single speed, the 2 speed on the E Maxx is useless IMO, I always ran it in second gear anyway.

This way by far the best electric MT I have ever owned/driven.

no, neighbors dont really have a problem with the noise. I dont drive before 11am and not after like 8 usually. I just am getting sick of all these nitro problems, tuning, half tank lean, fuel line got snipped, worring about landing on the engine head, clutch... I would convert to electric, but its around the $400 mark.

I also dont like the noise of nitro, I like being able to drive whenever I want aswell.

Hey Genius, last time I checked the RC10GT was a nitro powered vehicle.

Red Hat, you could also look in to the HPI NMT, oh wait, now I'm pulling a Jon, lol, ok the HPI MT. Its beefier than a stadium truck, its 4wd, and has plenty of aftermarket support. But dont think getting electric is going to be much cheaper. By the time you buy some good battery packs, a good charger, esc, etc. the cost is still up there. And if you think because it's electric you wont have to fix you are kidding yourself, they all break.

Robmob, your last statement has me now deciding wheter or not to ban your ass, after all this is RCNitrotalk, not RCElectric talk :whip:

i realize they all break, but its the nitro problems I hate. It seems like I'm always fixing something having to due with an engine.

I'm with Rob on this one.
You can get an E-Maxx on the Fle-Bay for a good price and go from there. Honestly, The E-Maxx is a much better ride then a T-Maxx. Get some 4000+ packs and a charger. From there upgrade poop when it goes south. I have driven an E-Maxx on several occasions and they are a blast. Lots of low end and no tuning issues.

On the other hand, Electric has its own issues such as brushes and comm maintenance. You will also have an extended time to hang out unless you have an extra set of batteries on hand. 4000+ packs will give you some great run time but you will pay for the privilege.

The battery issue is the only problem with my E-Maxx. Unless I throw down for a second set of packs, I have to sit for about an hour or so waiting for the packs to cool, charge and cool again before I can get in another run.

The plus is I can run in my backyard anytime I want. With the instant torque of the brushless set-up, I can launch it off my ramp with ease in a short amount of space. Run-time is about the same as it's nitro counterpart using the IB batts.

With the brusless set-up, I can give nitros a run for their money in top speed as well.

Electric bashers...

Duratrax Evader ST Pro,yeah yeah I know some call them Duratrash.This one is quite bash worthy and after you add a Trinity 13T mod motor(the ESC can handle this no problem)you will have a fast basher.

Also you can add the new Castle Creations MAX brushless motor/ESC combo,and buckle up.


The E-MAXX as fun as it is needs a potent injection of alloy parts in the weakest points,and a nice Novak HV-MAXX combo. The E-MAXX starts to be interesting at $1500 invested(well spent here,not wasted on pure bling).

I like my brushless E-Maxx but prefer my Savage and LST2 on steriods any day.
