i got a whole bunch of clubs for free from a truck that said free golf clubs. ever since then I've been scavanging for better clubs. i dont play enough or have enough money to buy them so, w.e. I think everything i have for golf has been free except a gold golf ball marker that has my name on it and maybe a few golf balls.

have fun golfing.

i love golf...been playing for about 8-9 yrs and at one point got down to consistently playing in the mid 80's. like everyone said, u can have the best set of clubs on the market, but if u can't hit straight they are not worth sh!t.

As for knockoffs, personally i'm against them. i'm not knocking the quality, most of them are solid clubs, but if u break one, finding a replacement will be tough. especially if u snap your favorite club over your knee...you're screwed.

my best advise is goto a range or a golfsmith store (if they are local to you) and hit a few balls with there demos. if u like a certain club, ask them if they have any used clubs in stock. most of the bigger chains and ranges will take trade ins when they sell a newer set. aside from that approach, look for some of the non flashy types. NIKE, callaway, ping and others are pricey cause they pay pros to play their clubs. TOUR EDGE is a solid club, that many players use, but since they dont pay pros to used them, they are not commonly known. look them up i think you'll be surprise withthe price of the complete set...woods and irons.

Thanks for the advice and tips guys. I did stop into a Golfsmith on Tuesday and demo'd a few clubs. The TaylorMade R7 still felt the best with my swing. The cheapest used driver was $170. I didn't try out any Tour Edge clubs though. I'll stop by again this week and see what they have. The Golfsmith guys were actually pretty nice, while the golf proshop sales guy was a little snooty.

I think my best bet right now is to just pick up any cheap driver and set of woods locally and get as much practice as possible with them. I think the reason why some of the drivers didn't feel as nice as others is because I'm not used to swinging something with such a flexible shaft. I hit pretty straight with my steel shafted irons right now, so I won't be replacing those anytime soon.

My work has a 18 hole tourney on November 11th. If I can get a hold of a set of woods/driver I'll be playing in it.

I play once a year at for our staff party. We all work on the grounds maintenance so near the end of the season we play a round of golf on our own course to let loose and have some fun.

I can hit the ball pretty good and drive it pretty far but I always hook/slice it, never goes straight.

It's funny that I've been working at this golf course for 6 years now and that totals to 6 rounds of golf in my life haha.
