I opened this bottle of paint today to touch up something and had trouble opening the bottle. I noticed it says .59 on the lid. I’m guessing 1979.

Paint was fresh and smooth.
Anyone venture to guess how old this paint is?

Looks like the bottles I was buying back in the early to mid 80's. As long as it didn't get too hot or cold and you got the lid on tight it lasted a long time on the shelf. I found a bunch in a box I picked up from storage at my parents a few years ago. I didn't have a use for it but a local Hot Wheels guy took it and used it. Said it worked great after being in storage since sometime in the late 90's.

1979-1983-ish. I used to build a LOT of models from around 1978 until the mid 90's, and, at one point, i had over 800 of them, and my one constant complaint was the paint prices, and how they would oddly go up and down at random times, as in, one week it would be $.69, then, a week later it would be $.63, then, two weeks after that, it would be $.74, but, around 1985 or so, they started getting consistent with pricing, and it would only do the increase/decrease thing around Christmas, so they could have the sales, and make you think you were saving something. I vividly remember one example from 1986 or 1987. I had gotten a Kmart ad sometime in late September, and paint was $.99 a jar, then, in early to mid December, it went up to $1.09, but, the week before Christmas, they advertised it as a big savings at $.89, so, from September to a week before Christmas, the price only changed $.10, which is a practice some stores still do, especially on higher end items. Every car in these pics was done between 1975 and roughly 1982, and they are maybe 1/100TH of what i had.

Yes, I know @biggman100 , my apologies. Sometimes my humor consists of "open mouth, insert foot".
No need to apologize. With how busy life can be anymore, its not hard for me to forget things, or not think before i type something, so i get the whole, open mouth, insert foot thing. Or as my GF so politely puts it, was your head up your butt again?
