Good morning to all-
So, it's Mardi Gras time down here on the Gulf Cost, and that means, among other things, that the weather is generally very nice, winds low, and not so very much rain.
This morning being clear, dead calm, and cloudless, I reckoned it would be a good time to get up with the sun and take myself and one of my Eflite Waco biplanes- the yellow one, to be sure- down to the flying field and see what sort of trouble I could get into.
Fellers, it was lovely. It was so very rewarding to send the little biplane up on perfect, smooth, scale take offs and then up into the sunrise light. Seeing the dawn light flash off the wings and struts of the little yellow plane as I banked it gently made me feel good about the whole world. In low wind conditions, these little biplanes can be tooled around at very slow speed, and just eased about at a slow walk- wonderful.
And in these conditions, I was able to put my little biplane in touch and goes- just barely kiss the pavement and then up and around again. Fellers, made me look like I knew what I was doing- just sayin'. Of course, nothing this fine lasts forever, and I let the little plane's landing gear- the one weak part of this great little rc plane- come down a bit too hard on one touch and go, and one of the wheels and its cover came loose, so I had to bring her back in for a vey gentle touch down and landing- no big damage, and a quick touch of repair hot glue back at the house made things right again.
So, sometimes quite small things can make the world seem a decent place to be despite the craziness going on in high places. At least, it was quite decent in my small part of the world.
you all be safe and keep well- Ed
