Or was it ever a goodie. Duratrax Maximum St Pro . Just wondering if it would be worth dropping a couple bucks on one just to do some light bashing with? Are parts still available? Should be able to pick one up for <$100.

Nubster, I'm sure someone will chime in with the, "Duratrax = Duracrap" line, and while I'll admit that Duratrax isn't really known for their overall quality, I can easily think of worse rigs to consider. I have the Duratrax Evader BX which is an electric buggy I got for my 7 year old son and I have to admit, it's held up better than I expected. I don't know much about their nitro rigs, though, but I can say that none of the LHS' around me carry Duratrax parts, but I've had no problem finding them at places like Tower Hobbies and the parts are usually pretty cheap.

As to the particular rig you're looking at on eBay, there are two things that immediately jump out to me:

1. He mentions that the engine is easy to turn over by spinning the flywheel. That may be an indication that the pinch is gone from that mill and that it may be on its last legs. Just something to consider.

2. He has a $20.00 shipping charge listed. I would be more inclined to offer something in the neighborhood of $50.00 for the rig itself to bring your total to $70.00. $50.00 bucks, in my humble opinion, gives you a good, basic rig you can tinker with and build from.

Hopefully this helps somewhat.

I wouldnt do it... You can get an rc10gt or a nitro rustler for that price (rtr none the less).

Stay away from it. A buddy of mine has one. Got about $600 in it and bitches everytime he takes it out. If you are looking for something to bash, get a buggy. Some of the older ones you can still get parts for. Were tough as hell to start with. Get a .21 Savage. Parts still fit.

You can still get parts for it. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0005p?&I=DTXD90**&P=X
What are you looking for?

omg that was my first r/c.i never did anything to it(shock fluid, diff oil, tunein)i drove it everyday with 4 tanks and never broke anything for 3 years and the only problem i had with it is the back shocks were to weak.theyre plastic is very very close to RPM.i loved that truck i even took it for show and tell lol.but i would recommend it since i had a good tie with it.now i have it there in a glass case. :D

i have had a few duratrax evaders (nitro) and the axis buggy ,the buggy was a tank shocktowers are weak as all get out ,and the torq .21 got wasted within a quart of fuel
the evaders nice little trucks enigines are poopy nickel plated sleeves ,wear out quickly ,diffs need overhauled often ,balls diff inthem never held up till i installed all aluminum and titanium
as for the maximum ST goes
a friend of mine has 1 and he basicly gave up on it broke every time we went out
so i honestly would steer clear of it ,never heard anything good nor seen anything good from it
