Thanks for pointing that out. I used to own one and seeing it again in the commercial revived some memories . At the time all my friends were going for 4wd but I went for the uncontrollable overpowered fun platform instead.
Ah, the days of charging for two hours for six minutes of run time. And having to clean the mechanical speed control to get it working properly again. I still have nostalgia for some of the rigs, but zero desire to go back to that era of electronics.
Thanks for sharing, that was freakin cool! I was born in '87 but, by the time I was in diapers, my dad and uncles were obsessed. Amongst them, they had a solid collection of all of the Tamiya monster trucks.
I can't get this image out of my head. I would kill to recreate this, without barriers. Then have a micro, last man standing grudge race.
iv always wondered what steering servo they had in the Clodbuster when they filmed that. its got the stock steering linkage, but what looks like a standard 1/10 servo is cranking those big tires no problem. i ran mine with a single high torque servo for a short time and it struggled.

You and me both. I am so glad the days of MSC's are behind us. I absolutely despised them. I mowed an awful lot of lawns, and tossed a lot of newspapers to get my first Novak ESC, and then I was afraid to run it too much and ruin it. Another thing I'm so glad I don't have to do anymore is make my own battery packs.
I grew up in the South and southwest, and I remember seeing the Tamiya and Traxxas ads, but, I don't remember ever seeing any for Kyosho, even though I had a Kyosho Ultima around that time, along with two Tamiya Grasshopper's.
