AM/FM Antenna Wire

Each manufacturer uses different wore and sizes. I don't believe there is a difference in FM wire or AM wire.

What is your reason for asking?

Novak uses different color coated wire so the case and decals on their recievers can all be the same. As far as I've ever known, the wire is the same.

My antenna wire got cut and needs to be replaced. I've always seen AM and FM wire but never really thought about the difference before now.

What a lot of people do is wrap it back down around the antenna tube in a spiral. You won't have any glitches or anything.

As a rule of thumb, an antenna wire should have 60% or more extended, what you do with the rest is up to you as long as you don't cut it off.

You can get creative and wrap the wire around the tube or let it fly free. I have made antenna wire holders that are contained inside the body and have had good luck with them. You need to remember that the longer the wire is extended the greater range you will get.

After making any kind of change you need to do a range test. This is a must.
