I bought some new 14 awg wire to replace my ESC wire's to redo my connectors. The new 14 awg is thinner than the 14 awg on my esc. It came with Reedy 14 awg...just seems beefier. Will there be an issue using the new wire?

Its really strand count..I never use 14ga.always 12ga or less.noodle wire is my go to..

You shouldn't have an issue. When shopping around, some of the places will give the diameter and strand count of the wire. 3.5mm is about the thickest spec that I see for 14awg wire with 400 strands. Where/what 14awg wire did you get?

the gauge of the wire is supposed to be measured by the diameter of the combined strands/conductor. However there is no industrial law that governs this rule. Therefore, many companies will say a wire is certain gauge when it is actually much smaller.

I use to be a car audio installer, and it got terrible. We would get these Chinese wire kits that says the wire is 2 gauge when it is actually about a 4 or 6.

Here's a comparison to show you how bad it is:
