You don't want to listen to me... I'm cheap! I buy whatever is cheap that I can find more good than bad info about.

This is the engine I've seen run:

It's not bad and it's much better with a different pipe than stock. With the JP-2 pipe in a muggy, it really rips. With the stock pipe on a LST2 (which is better than a AS stock pipe) it's kind of a dud. The stock pipes for all three (AS, LST2, Muggy) are pretty lame. Which is too bad.

You have the aftershock right? That has a M26 in it (you said mach 27?).

The Mach .28ci is 4.588 cc. The Mach 427 is a .26 ci engine. I think it's just a dressed up M26 that comes with a roto-start on it. Although, the M26 parts list only has DYN part numbers listed for half of it. The rest of it are LOSI part numbers... Who knows...

The platinum 28 has a little bit higher HP rating but quite a bit higher RPM range... It costs a lot more though.

Is your engine on it's way out or are you just looking for more power? The one you linked too should have more, not a lot, but it should be noticeable. With a more open pipe, it would more than likely have quite a bit more. Also, the one you linked to should drop right in with the parts you take off your stock engine.

I've read that quite a few people have bought the LRP Z.28 and have really liked it. Not many with an aftershock, but in revo's and savage's.

haha, sorry for the agrivation on your part!! i know what its like talking to newbies (I'm REALLY into cometative paintball and have to realize that the stuff thats common knoledge for me is chinese to them) well here is the setup i have, stock AS except for a losi tuned upgrade pipe. and a set of swaybars. thats it. you were right about the 27/26 bit, I'm running a 26. how will that z 28 tun with the losi pipe do you think? I'm not sure wich one it is, ill go find a link.

I don't know, I can't see the size of the stinger. I've found that larger than 21 engines like a pipe that has a decent sized stinger outlet. I had an XTM BB pipe and it's stinger will fit inside my HPI polished tuned pipe. Every engine I used with that XTM pipe seemed to strain for power. I've tried that pipe on a few engines after getting the HPI pipe just to see the difference. It's like night and day.

Hey guys dont mean to step in on your thread but, I just bought the Aftershock with the .26ss and havent had a problem with it at all. but yes I sealled the motor I seal all my motors now right out of the box. also I own a savage 25 three speed with a Dynamite mach .26 it keeps up with my buddies hpi4.6 Dynamite make a good motor for the money but you need to richen them from the stock setting as well these are hot running motors as far as the dyn 427 its not a .26 its a .27 but one thing is for sure you must read the specs on a motor because this will tell you what you want if your looking for top end speed get a higher reving motor 38,000 rpm + if you also having more ports in the sleeve does not mean a better motor...these are all things to consider Last note I've done a heat cycle breakin still breakin in the motor 1/2 gallon later so be kind to your motors and they will love you for it LONGER BREAKIN LONGER & MORE CONSISTANT LIFE.......just my two cents guys have fun.....BASH HARD

I just bought an LRP 28 today... see my other thread about bad motor saver filter... My XTM is more than likely toast now.

I'll see how the LRP does in the AS hopefully this weekend. I'll do my best to get home from work at a reasonable time this week so I can break it in before the weekend gets here.

i actually just bought one to, so we can see how they work together!!! yay!

ok, now that thats done with, I'm assuming that i should use the heat cycle method?

You bought the same thing? That's weird!

I've always had good luck heat cycling. Run it 5 minutes, put the piston at BDC, let it cool, run it, BDC, cool... Once it loosens up a bit, lean it and drive it gently and so on.

that is the engine you linked to above is it not? that is kinda weird! but i decided i wanted to go with somthign other than dynamite because (i guess) thats what I'm running now and the thing keeps breaking down on me. wont stay lit, eats OWBs like they where candy, can't tune it because it wont stay lit, eats more OWBs, craps out at the track just before the biggest race of the day (usually the OWB, or it wont stay lit) not to mention just the general headache its been since day one. I've had bigshot local engine guys scratching their heads with this thing, so i decided its time for a new engine.

is it just me, or does it look like that lrp is a plug and play engine with the AS?

is it just me, or does it look like that lrp is a plug and play engine with the AS?

I don't know what you mean. I didn't get mine installed yet. I took the carb off, cleaned the neck and o-rings of oil, then RTV'd it before putting the carb back in the right way. It was backwards for my AS. I had to flip it.

"plug and play" means that you just bolt it on and start doing your thing, you dont have to mod anything. so did you get yours already then? i had to order mine, nobody in town has much for rc

Most big block engines are that way. Not many with rotary carbs and/or side exhausts exist.

The only issues people have sometimes with BB's is the pull starter being too large. I know I had to grind the engine mount a bit to fit an OS 21RG into my HB lightning buggy when I had it. OS uses a large pull starter on most (if not all) of their engines.

holy crap that 28 has some power!! i have never seen my truck do wheelies on command before! i just got it broken in today and started tuning , but unfortunatly it got to late and i had to shut it down.

I just bought a spare set of center axles and a LST2 2-speed mechanism off ebay... I doubt it will show up before Saturday though. I'll have to go easy on it this weekend or I'll more than likely fry another AS 2 speed.

have you had any problems with the OWB on the spur gears? mine keeps slipping at higher speeds, I've been cleaning it off really well after every run, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

I've heard of a few issues with the Aftershock 2speed setup. I've had LST's for two years, and only one of those have failed on me yet.

How much fuel have you run through the truck chuck? I have about 3 gallons through mine and it hasn't slipped yet. Although, I am running smaller tires which puts less strain on things... The only problems I've had with the two speed were after the LRP28 got about 10 tanks into it. Then it got stuck in second.

My LST 2 speed showed up today! I'll have that pig running strong for this weekend. I'm just crossing my fingers that my basher buddy will be able to go to the indoor MX track since it's supposed to rain tonight and tomorrow.

i only have about a 1/4 gallon through the 28, still a very virgin engine but already has a ton ofpower. as of total truck gallons, I've put in about 1 1/2 gallons. the OWB has slipped since day one with this thing, i fixed it for a while with the 26 (when it would run) and now with the 28, it slips quite often then jumps right back when i let off the throttle.

I ran about 1/2 gallon on the new two speed so far. It's holding up great to the LRP 28. The original after shock gears lasted 5 or 6 tanks during break-in of the LRP 28. The engine was running really fat and it made it get stuck in second gear and stay there. Pretty much the whole 1/2 gallon on the 2 speed has been when the engine was tuned for good performance. Wheelies all the time... I need to adjust the two speed though. It kicks in too early.

does that new 2 speed come wiht new spur gears, OWB, and stuff like that? or is it just the clutch in the spur gears?
