A sad, sad day for me...

My 3000GT is sitting at the body shop

I don't have pics yet...but I may stop by a snap some for you guys if you want to see it.

So heres the story: I was driving on the way to a bash session at a dirt pit with my friend. All through town there was this green dodge truck, yes truck, that was tailgating me pretty bad. It was kind of pissing me off...so at the sharp corner I gained a little distance on him and stopped paying attention to him. Now I was on the highway doing approx 60mph on the way to the spot. The road I had to turn onto is a left turn right on the highway. So I put on my blinker and slowed down to a stop and waited for traffic to clear. Usually I look in my rear-view mirror to see if anything is gunna happen. I did this after I was completely stopped for two seconds and guess what I saw? My whole mirror was a green dodge truck's grill. Then came the screech and BAM! The F**king retard nailed me. I pulled over and the tire marks were probably 10 feet long. "I just couldn't stop in time" My ass...I was stopped for like a second or two before hit hit me! I think he was not paying attention or something. Anyway, the impact was HARSH! This happend yesterday and my neck still hurts like a beeotch. Hit hit me hard enough for his airbags to go off. The rear of my car is trashed...I am so f*cking pissed off. :flaming: I've been paying off my car for a while now and if its totaled...that guy will not want to see me ever again.

The guy had got his truck a week ago, got rearended on wed, and rearended me on fri...geeze. All the rescue guys and cops knew him haha.

Right now the insurance company is coming to look at me car on Monday. I drove the car probably 2 miles from the accident so it is not physically totaled...but I am worried the cost of the damage is going to be more than the value of the car...which is around 4000ish...prolly more. Only one metal body piece is trashed, and the exhaust is fine...jsut everything in between. This is a relatively rare car and not many at all in the area. At least it was not my fault and he is paying for everything...but now I am out of a car for who knows how long...DAMN it haha. My first reaction once I knew I was okay was how bad my car was hit and whether I'd be able to keep it...I know i know...I'm obessed...but its a SWEET car. One of the best looking in my entire school.

I just hope its not 'totaled'. My friend said that even if they say it is, he thinks he can fix it for less than 4k if we do all the labor. So I'm jsut keeping my hopes up...I'll let you know how it goes on monday. Sorry for the long post...just needed to vent a little...

And yes...my seatbelt was on...I'm not a reatard...haha.

Nothing and noone was seriously hurt...but I should claim that he broke my R/Cs haha. They just got luanched forward a little. If you have ever seen the back seats of a 3000GT they were pretty nice and tucked away but if the chassis had bent in they could have been smashed. And yea we are getting a rental car...but I can't drive it since I am 17 years old...so I'll have to drive my moms car..uughh...a Chrysler Pacifica...eeww. O well, I'm just hoping they don't consider it totaled. I have so much invested into this car haha. There are more of them around the value of mine on ebay...but they are all a long way away from me. For any car aorund $5000 this would be the one I would want.

...although a friend at work said there is a Porshe 928 with like 26K miles on it for $6,500 ...

Well I have some good news hehe...if they do total it there is another 3000GT for sale near me...only problem is its $8,000...

If they do total it, it should still be in your name. (this may vary by insurance company) You'll not only get the money the insurance company gives you for the car, but you may be able to part it out, which should bring you in some decent cash.

If they total it make sure you pull any goodies (system, rims etc) out of it before its off to the junk yard. I really hope its ok but if there is any frame damage it will probably never drive the same again.

Another option is if they total it they will usually sell it to you for chump change so you could always persue getting it from the insruance company for 300-400 bucks and fixing it yourself with all the cash they give you from the insurance payment.

Anyhow good luck and most important thing is you and the R/C;s are ok!

If they total it I hope to be able to get it back from them and fix it up. And yea I will hopefully be able to pull of the aftermarket rims and system.

The thing that is gunna bug me the most if they total it and take it to the junk yard is the fact that the car right now is drivealbe. I drove it 2 miles or so at highway speeds and it felt absolutely fine. If they find problems with the chassis then ok but I really don't think there is. There are a bunch of 3000GTs on ebay and stuff but they are very far away from me.

Not to burst your bubble, but My guess would be theyll total it. If it hit it so hard in the rear the bags went off, I'm sure the frame is taco'ed. Plus airbags alone are crazy spendy. Just glad your allright. Go to the Dr. and get your neck checked out too. Make sure if ya have any physical problems to get it worked out before you collect from Ins.

His airbags went off not mine. Both my parents are doctors...my neck is ok...just hurts like a beeotch. From what I can see from the outside of the car is the trunk lid, rear bumper, lights, possibly spoiler but idk, and these little fiberglass chunks that are on the upper corners of the rear. The rear fenders aren't bent.

His bumper when just over my chassis and the impact was not on the chassis. They could total it cuase of cost but I am almost positive the car is no physically totaled.

Oh my bad, I should have known on the dodge that theyd go off. You could lean on the front bumper and fart, and theyd go off. Kinda a coincidence that Dodge/Chysler's also have the most expensive airbags to replace?? Hmm.. Again, just glad your allright.

1) who is your carrier?
2) have you seen a doctor yet?
3) have you gotten a quote on the costs of fixxing your car from the highest priced body shop in town yet?

1) Mine is Amica, his is Allstate...we have already got a call from Allstate.
2) Answered above both my parents are doctors...I am ok.

LMAO at 4u2nv, I snapped some pics and when you see them you will know why his airbags when off...I will post them later...gtg to a birthday party thing...pics up prolly around 10-11 tonoght (East coast time).

Well glad to hear your parents are doctors and your ok but that wont do much good unless they gave you a bill for seeing you. Get an xray of your neck if you didnt already, and pay someone who is not your mom or dad to check you out. Being your parents may not look good to the carrier when it comes time to pay the med bills. The insurance company will pay (in most cases) 3x the med bills in the end. Also look online for a car just like yours that is for sale, most companys will match the highest price you can come up with, with proof so print it out for them. Do NOT let his carrier pay any med bills have yours do it. They will want to be paied back in the end but thats not hard to do after his sends you a check for your pain and the med bills.

Well I am jsut gunna wait till I find out what the quote is and wether or not its totaled. If it is totaled my dad knows how much I love the car and assures me we will fix it up...unless of course the car actually is totaled i.e. chassis damage etc.

My hand was there to block the glare from the sun.

You can see the frame rails sticking out a bit on either side of the license plate. Everything trashed is plastic except for the trunk like. The rear window is not even cracked.

actually AC that's really not as bad as it looks.....you'd be amazed at what you can fix in a body shop now.....my buddy was the mngr for a sterling body in pompano and man there are some real F'd up cars they made look like new.....

yea dude as long as that frame is strait your gavy all they gotta do is take the plastic stuff off and replace it.. not hard at all.. doesn't even look like any metal is bent.. you should have your loved car back in no time.. THIS is totaled
