Yesterday i take my MGT to a local parking lot to tune the engine and adjust the transmission a little.

Well i get the engine tuned perfectly in my book, running 243*F, ample amount of smoking coming from the stinger... so i decide to start adjusting the transmission a little. taking to long to shift into 2nd in my book. not anywhere near the 15-20 feet that the manual calls for.

well in me bringing my truck back to me i notice the truck is moving extremely slow, and not very responsive at all.... and i notice the spur gear is stripped....:angry::angry: well i guess either 1) didn't set the spacing correctly or 2) didn't tighten the motor mount screws down......:angry::angry::angry:

well i go to the LHS to buy a new spur gear and when i go to take the spur gear off the little bushings for the slipper some how melted them selves down and FUBAR'd my entire spur.

So my question is, what did i do wrong to have this happen.... I am very familiar with nitros..... but this is my first Off Road Nitro.... being first one with a slipper clutch.

Well, first off, proper mesh is critical to long gear life. Use a piece of paper; put it between the pinions and spurs, push them together, and use locktite on your engine mount bolts. Blue removable locktite. As far as anything melting, you must have had a loose slipper clutch. They are only supposed to slip for the first 2 feet when you peg the throttle. I'm not familiar with the Mgt line, but somebody else should be able to elaborate on these points for ya.

Thanks for the heads up... but yea that's exactly what i thought on the stripping..... I've burned through quite a bit of spurs on my RC10T3 and XXX-T....

but i was wondering why the bushings would of melted themselves...from what you said i guess i had the slipper to loose and i need to tighten it up some.... okay... i'll give it a whirl.....

The bushings might have failed from being stressed funky, from the bad mesh or loose engine. Like I said, I've never seen a Mgt up close. Pics would be cool.
