Hi all! Ok, I have a few questions on my nitro sport w/t trx .15 moter. How can you tell if the moter is running rich or lean. What is the best cleaning methods. Should I dissasemble everything to clean? Also, what does WOT mean? :buggy1:

WOT = Wide Open Throttle.

If you're running rich, there will be a puddle of fluid where the stinger is, when it's idling. Also lots of smoke when running. Lean will have barely any smoke and water will instantly sizzle off the heatsink.

Get a temperature gauge. Till then, do the water or spit test. Drop a small amount of spit or water on the head. If it sizzles off right away it's hot/lean. You need to turn down the High Speed Needle (counter clockwise in 1/4 turn incriments). If it just sits there, you're too col/rich. Lean out the High Speed Needle (Clockwise in 1/4 turn incriments). If it sits there for 3 seconds prior to evaporating you're in the general ballpark.

When you have the tempgauge, aim for a temperature of about 230 F. That's usually a good running temp. Also don't forget to let the car get used to the new settings. Do a couple of passes to let the settings take effect.

On the Low Speed needle, do a pinch test. If it cuts off in 3-5 seconds while holding it down, you're in the general ballpark. If it takes longer, lean it out (clockwise). If it cuts off right away, richen it (counter clockwise). To fine tune it test drive it.

If the engine tends to bog down then clears it's throat when launching from a standing start, you're rich ... lean it out. If it revs up very quickly then stalls abruptly, it's too lean. Richen it by turning the LSN counter clockwise.

Remember, the LSN adjustments are to be done in 1/8 incriments. Also, do the high speed needle first before tuning the low speed needle.

Always look for a nice trail of smoke coming from the stinger while running.

For cleaning, I usually spray denatured alcohol and give it a good burst of compressed air. For a full cleaning, I break it down completly to the chassis once a month to get the muck that has built up in the spots I can't see. Also is a good time to regrease the differentials. Don't forget to protect the carb and electronics. Spray generously but don't drench it. Also, wash your filter in soapy water or squirt some fuel through it from the bottom end (the part facing the carb) and reoil with filter oil.

Thank you for the info. I broke a universal joint the other day on the race track. What a bummer, now I have to wait for the other part to come in before I tune her. My luck it will be raining on that day lol. Thanks again!!
