So here's one for you fellas. Do you get the full zoote full hop up version, or do you just get the entry level one and replace stuff with the upgrades as needed?

Is this similar to buying just a normal xxxnt vs the drake? Or is it a different scenario?

Always trying to save money on my hobbies you know? LOL

Brandon

I'll tell you this. I don't have a Lightning RR 2, but my Lightning Pro 2 is getting alot of RR part "as needed" do to the fact that it is impossible to get most "Pro" pars ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you tell that pisses me off?

From my view it should be MP777 SPECIAL!!>mugen prospec>mp777>mugen

Well, I have the 777 Special 1, and I can tell you this: I don't like dog bones on my vehicles. To replace the front and rear we're talking $120. I also like the aluminum wing braces vs plastic ones that comes with the regular 777. So there is another $15. Another area that the regular kit comes with is plastic servo tray braces. This gives the servos and the tray to move vs the servos doing there job. Yet again another $15. There are some other minor differences, but when you add that up it comes to $150 plus shipping $170. So, $599 vs $799! I think that is what the two are running. It really pays off buying the upgraded kit already. I think!! When you spend your money, spend it right the first time!! Just my .02

Perfect post woody! You hit the nail right on the head.

And for the record I'm getting a very nice K3 locally. I'll probalby step it up to the 777 next season.

I personally don't care for the Trip7/special one. Overpriced and getting a K3 or even a K2 would be a great competitor. The Mugen buggy well I would get the Prospec as the options are just stronger. My PCR PRO compared to a regulare Hyper 7 is worth the monsy in its options that are more durable... Read up on the additions for the k2 all the way to the Trip 7 special one. I think the performance would not be enhanced much. a decent driver always makes the car not the other way around most of the times.

Same issue was with the Inferno sports and the Kanaii editions. The inferno came basic with a slow engine, while the Kanaii came with what every buggy should to bash or race. Minus the engine and electronics u have to buy separate.

thanks guys, and jon2 where should I read up?

RC NITRO did an article on the Trip 7 and special one.

Let me see what I can dig up

I have to disagree with some of this.. i personally got the regular.. and like you said.. i upgraded some stuff.. i got my 777 for 490 shipped.. you can get them now for round 319 shipped..

i got universals in the rear and center for my car.. for 80 bux.. both sets.. ben88 from ebay.. great seller..
i got kingheads shock towers for it.. www.kingheads.com
i got kingheads chassis braces for it..
i also got a complete set of arms..and stuff from ben88 as well
got turnbuckles frm the hobby shop.. less than 20 bux for all of them..

i dont have the aluminum radio post.. or wing mounts..

if you go to www.ultimatehobbies.com.. they ahve the MP777 for very cheap.. also.. the SP1 is very cheap there as well.. gotta call and get pricing.. 599 for SP1.. 319 for regular..

just for arguments sake, add up all the upgrades that you did. plus the TCD diff that the SP1 comes with (iirc) and compare it to the price of a SP1. granted your car will be different (shocktowers and braces) and if thats what you want cool. but for a new purchase how do the 2 stack up price wise?

well.. now that the SP1 is cheap.. i woulda got the SP1.. but i had my 777 before they were available here.. but when i got mine.. it was 420 compared to 685

center and rear universals..70 bux
Kingheadz shock towers. 70
kingheads chassis braces 40
spare set of arms from ebay 25
turnbuckles from LHS 15

grand total of 640(+or-)

compared to SP1 of 685

could get the aluminum radio post.. and prolly still will.. but.. dont know..

now.. with ultimate hobbies with the buggy so cheap.. thats the way i would go... but now i got spare shock towers.. spare dogbones.. and arms.. and chassis braces.. just in case.. i allready had the LSD diff from my previous car.. also.. people are using standard diffs in front anyway.. i havent tried the LSD in the 777 yet

dont forget most cheap kits dont have lsd or alloy hopups, hop ups normally mean people have had a prob with the standard breaking, lsds cost me about 100 bucks a dif to upgrade NZ$ of coarse but thats still close to 66 bucks US i run 2 lsds and a 3rd for real crappy conditions so theres 180 straight off

well.. the kit form of the 777 is a very ready to race kit.. other than the shock towers.. i think the kit is ready to go.. LSD's are not needed.. the standard diff in the kit 777 is the same as the standard diffs in the SP1. only difference.. is SP1 comes iwth 1 standard.. 1 LSD, and a center.. the kit comes with 2 standards.. and 1 center..

sounds like there leaving room for improvement later in life as kyosho and mugen always tend to do, Lsd are personal choice I guess but if your going to buy an exspensive kit you might as well get it all, i use 2 lsd s all the time and like i said a third or crappy conditions does tend to give you a little more pull in the corners (or coming outta them) oh yeah have you noticed that the lsd oil is suspiciously like trans fluid at a remarkable ripped of price, we run trans fluid and havent had any probs

yeah mike.. your right.. its the same as gear oil.. 75/140 synthetic gear oil.. i heard that over there the tracks tend to favor LSD's, or torsen diffs.. but here.. no one seems to like torsen.. or LSD.. all kits have room for improvement.. the prospec is a nice buggy.. but kinda high.. alot of mugen drivers dont run all that alum cuz of weight..

ok cool, thats all i wanted for comparisons sake. if you add the cost of a LSD in there, you end up with the price the SP1 was at. my point is simply if you can afford it, youd be well off to just get the factory upgraded kit of whatever car you choose. thanks for playing along

well.. your right.. the SP1 has alot of nice stuff on it.. like the hard anodized chassis.. and stuff like that.. but alot of it.. is mainly bling.. which is why i went with the regular kit.. and got the hopups.. on my K2, i still went with racers edge stuff.. and all that.. so.. i figured.. i would get the regular kit.. this time.. cuz i never used my LSD in the K2..
