Should I get a 2wd or 4wd ST?

I´ve never driven either, but coming from 4wd electrics my first thought was to go for the 4wd. Then I was told that 4wd trucks are not as fun, and not as good, as they are solely built for leisure while 2wd are designed for racing, hence to a higher standard... Confused...

4wd would be a HPI Mt2 prob, not sure about the 2wd as the choice is vast.

I am not interested in racing so lack of 4wd class is not an issue.

So should I get a 2wd or 4wd?

Thanks:read:

I started with a Losi XXX-NT. I liked it a lot, but it left something to be desired. Then i bought a Maxx about 8 months later. To be honest, the losi rarely sees the light of day. Although, i have converted the maxx to a 21 and really beefed it up so it can withstand what 4wd throws at it.

I think it depends more on the terrain your running on. If you have a nice dirt track (i don't), the 2 wheel drive is fun. I had a construction site i played at until winter. Had a blast with the losi, but i was pretty much stuck playing there. It just didn't have the ground clearance to play on grass. Parks i have a lot of.

As i said, i now mostly run the maxx, but i think it's due to lack of places to run the losi more than lack of fun the losi provided. The handling is definitly different. But i attribute most of that to the Monster truck vs the stadium truck.

I'm sure with the 4wd truck, you can always take out the parts that make it 4wd and convert to 2wd when you feel like it. Just a thought. Then you get both in one shot.

my friend nate has an mt (4wd stadium truck) it is pretty sweet, they are alot easier to handle.. but they are more expensive to maintain (so I've heard) and they are definately slower (top speed) we race alot(i have a couple of xxxnts, one of which i am getting rid of) and i can smoke him mostly cause his is slower.. the handling is great on them, and yes you can make them 2 wd, weve even gon to the extent of having it converted to front wheel drive (that was fun)

as olds97 said, it really depends on what you are gonna be doin with it and what terrain... and whether you want a stadium truck or a monster truck...

i can tell you that the most popular monster trucks on this site are the savage and tmaxx, and the stadium trucks are rc10gt(2wd), xxxnt(2wd), and hpi MT and MT2 (4wd)

good luck

ya man its all about the handling cuz really they both are nasty if they on a stadium truck cuz trucks aer just awesome. but for real 2wd is fun its for the real men the kick nice around turns and its just fun still plenty of power, but i tried to drive in snow with 2wd its just not the same, 4wd got nasty traction and the handling isnt nesicarily better, but maybe easier so i prefer 2wd more manlyish and fun to bash so have fun make a good choice!

I started in RC with 2wd. When I tried my friend's 4wd I found it alot easier to drive and more enjoyable. So I haven't bought another 2wd RC since.

I got a XXX-NT for my first rc and I loved it and still do, it's never given me any problems and it's fast and fun. It has been my only rc up until really recently when I just traded my paintball gear for a T-MAXX, haven't had a chance to run it yet due to snow and all, but come spring I will. I will still use my XXX-NT too, depends on where I run it, when I wanna go grassy T-MAXX, when I wanna rip up the street XXX-NT. A 2 wheel drive stadium truck is more fun then a 4 wheel drive one, you can't do the same sort of crazy stunting and stuff on a 4 wheel drive one that you can with a 2 wheel drive one. With the XXX-NT's digital servo you can't go wrong either, it's a breeze. I'd say go with a XXX-NT, the most bang for the buck and the easiest to maintain. Peace. :tophat:
