Hey guys, new to the forum. Any info is greatly appreciated. I built a losi 22 back in early 2000. 5 cell Nimh brushed with a high end esc and a high end 6.5t motor. It used to do wheel stands and the wheels would expand to double their size on full throttle.

Yesterday I finished my Schumacher LD3 build. With a top of the line hobbywing esc and brushless motor, and it doesn’t feel as powerful. The wheels expand on full throttle, but nowhere near at much as my old losi. And doesn’t wheel stand at all.

Have I got something incorrectly setup on the esc or motor or controller?

I eas assured this setup would rip my old brushed system.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Yeah I missed the deets:

20t pinion
Hobbywing xerun xr10 pro esc
Hobbywing xerun v10 g3 6.5t motor
Futaba 4pm plus radio
Futaba r3348bb receicer
Aired mp1 steering servo
Nosram hv lipo 2s 6400 graphene

ESC and radio haven’t been programmed. Running standard from packaging

Thanks mate

I would start recalibrating the radio to the esc
Turn on radio, press and hold the set button on the esc till it starts beeping. Press 1 time at neutral, full throttle (press another time), full reverse (press another time) let off the trigger, the esc should beep 2 more times and it should be fully recalibrated.
After that i would setup your end points for your steering (unrelated to the issue but is a good practice), and then check your channel reverse, reverse your throttle channel and if your wheel spin is any faster, it should be fixed.

I don’t want to do wheelies for the sake of wheelies. Or just to watch the wheels fluff out to double the size . I was just using them as measures for how aggressive it revved and how fast it was. I feel my LD3 should have more power for the setup I have. It goes quick, but my Brushed losi with nimh batteries from 20 years ago was much faster.

Your LD3 is maybe a bit heavier than the old 22 platform, depending on what gear you had in the 22. Have you checked the top speed? Is it faster at full throttle? Maybe try dropping your pinion by a couple teeth and see if it doesn't have more spunk.

The point is, if you want it to be more aggressive, increase torque by using a smaller pinion. That 6.5T motor has a much higher RPM than your old brushed motor, so it's going to have less torque and more top speed. Using a smaller pinion will trade a bit of that top RPM for more torque, making the car more aggressive feeling.
