I have a Tamiya TG10-Mk1 and purchased a two speed for it. I can not get it to go into 2nd gear no matter how I adjust the clutch..... any advise??

Cheers

Is it a brand new engine? If so, you may need to break it in a little more to achieve the RPM's needed to get into second gear.

The clutch on the engine shouldnt need to be adjusted, but I'm assuming you are adjusting the 2 speed adjustment screw. I would suggest setting it back to factory adjustment and then just advance the shift point a HAIR. From there, consider leaning your high speed needle on your engine instead.

yep, am adjusting 2 speed clutch, engine is fine, i have run about 4 litres through it so far, engine temp is good and would prefer not to lean out any more but I will reset to factory, how sensative is the adjustment???

I was referring to setting the 2 speed clutch back to factory. 2 speeds are pretty sensitive and can be fussy. They should not have to deviate much from the factory setting, if at all.

The reason I suggest leaning the high speed needle a little bit is because of the RPM's required to get the clutch to engage 2nd gear. If your temps are cool, then you should have some room to lean it a little. I'm not saying to run your engine too hot at all. You shouldnt have to. But I've gotten more peoples rides to switch to second gear by adjusting a High Speed needle than I have the actual clutch/tranny.

What temps are your running at? (farenheit)

ok, I am with you know, thanks for the help...... running about 220 - 230- Fh it is a Tamiya FS12, also, had to assemble the clutch in the 2sp trans, the book said to adjust the spring screw to 4.5 - 5mm so will readjust and try the high end needle to see if it will kick in
thanks
