hi guys, i've noticed that i can get a 2 speed for my hyper 7 and am currently considering buying 1 basically for a bit more top end fun as my hyper7 has loads of torque from the .28 and in a fairly light chassis. what i'm unsure about is that i've heard from various people that 2 speeds have problems especially once the change from 1st to second that they easily snap 2nd gear. Is this true or only happens to the $100 off road buggy's found on e-bay?

I would not do it. Get a larger clutchbell if you want more speed. If you take out the diff and add a 2 speed you will lose adjustabilty. I think a 2 speed in a buggy is a waste of time and money.

ok....any suggestions as to what size a standard clutch bell is on a RTR hyper 7 and what size i should go to?

My brother put a 2-speed in his Hyper 7 (the one I bought from VB), ran it twice and yanked it back out. It made the rear end real squirrely, especially when 2nd kicked in.

it basically locks the center diff and takes away the whole drivability (izatawurd?) of a buggy....like MW said the back end gets pushed out in the turns because it's getting the same power distribution as the front...if you ran a flat dirt oval it would be kind of neat but what's the fun in having a sick jumping machine and keeping it on the ground??

I have had picco 26 in a PCR Pro and it was rediculous fast. I see no reason to have something you can't control.
