My son and I typically race 1/5 scale buggies, but I do have a Raco Jack Rabbit. We decided that we wanted to do a high-speed large scale car. I have the chassis already made, but I am trying to figure out what kind of steering to put on it. Would y’all have any suggestions? I looked into the quicksilver dragster front end from primal RC, but I believe the parts are going to be too small for the size of car we’re building.

Dang, man 1/5 scale buggies are huge! Never owned a 5th scale so I probably won't be much help, but maybe a XMAXX/XRT steering setup?

Also some pics of your rigs would be awesome! Show us what you're working with!

Also welcome to RCT!!!

We like racing the Fitz scale cars because of the gas engines we put on them. I have engines that rains from 30 cc up to 71 cc. I’ve been watching the high-speed passes on a bunch of Youtubers channels and I figure we need to go and try to build a large scale car that can do the same speed. The current project we’re working on is 7 feet long.

Trust me it’s out of our league also. That is actually only a 1/6 scale of the car. We are modeling it after. We have a bunch of 1/8 and 1/10 scales also but we’ve always liked the big ones. And we think it’s time that the world acknowledges that larger RC cars can do the same as the small ones. And look a hell of a lot cooler doing it. lol

Welcome to the forum! Can you share some pics of your cars?

7' long?!?! Is your kid gonna be driving this thing??? Prob a steering column from a Caddy with tilt and cruise...🤔🤣

Welcome to RCTALK.COM!!! 😁

I haven't built anything large scale but a few ppl here have. Maybe @RELIC01, @cbaker65 or @Tunedfrog could offer some off help with the big steering question.

I'd love to see pics of your builds. Video even better!!!! 👍😎

If you really can't find anything wide enough, you could try to cut a (FG marder/sportsline) front end in half and extend the circled steering links.
Or you could buy the suspension arm setup twice.

Edit: kraken vesla suspension would probably be way smoother and wider.

Welcome to RCNT
I would try the large scale forum, maybe someone over there has some ideas. Can the 1/5 buggies provide the steering parts you are looking for? How about another 1/5 vehicle that could work? I’m curious, what is the track width of this car going to be?

Maybe an idea in this thread or you can talk about other ideas together?
