I've got a savage 25,and the gastank is cracked, also the carb twists in its housing was wondering if and what kind of cilicone i could use to keep the carb from twisting and seal the tank temporarly? carb twists because it was pried out with a screwdriver, because my father and i were to dumb to realize that a screw clamps down on the carb, hoping cilicone will work

i use sport & outdoor goop on everything! you can repair the tank sand it good and clean it , but should get a new one. take the nut off the pin that holds the carb in place push it out with wood or plastic so you don't mess up the block or pin. should tear down the rest of the engine clean it throughly making sure no shaveings are in there. i use motor oil litely coating everything and put it back together

for the gastank... if you dont want it to happen again get a aluminum tank...kinda pricey IMO.... or you could just get an aluminum tank guard by integy or vantage....

Or you could just turn the shock crews the other way round, with the nut end facing rearwards.

That is the main culprit causing cracked tanks AFAIK.

neobart is right on with screws and fuel tank. I've tried many things but I haven't found anything that lasts very long for a fuel tank repair.
Likewise, the silicone rtv will not last on the carb. The best fix there is anew carb or carb body.

one time i crashed realy hard, it cracked the tank. so i mounted the tank with just two screws. but dont know if it will work.
