I don't know a whole lot about gearing but I have been trying to learn. But now I have a question for you guys. Should I stick with the stock gearing when I put the 2.5r in my stampede? I just checked it and it's 66/18 (stock.) I'm not really sure what I want as far as top end speed or acceleration. I just don't want it to spin out and loose control too easily. It even does that on some surfaces now, if I give it a 1/4-1/2 throttle it spins its tires and picks the front end up just enough to not be able to steer too well. I have been thinking of a way to distribute more weight in the front.

You could probably go up to a 20T bell. Will add some top end and make the bottom end a bit more tame. The 2.5R is a pretty snappy engine. I still run one in my jato and it wheelies all the time if it can get grip. I don't know how guys even drive the thing with a 3.3 in it... guess not much off road running.

Sounds good, I wonder what comes stock on the 2.5r. Didn't even think about that. I forgot to mention that I was thinking of getting Proline Trencher X 3.8" tires on there to help with traction and stability. Does that affect what I will want to consider for gearing? It's going to be a sweet rig once I get it all done.

I'd wait and run it with the Trenchers, then change as needed. I have them on my Rustler and they are a pretty heavy tire. I think I'm running 20/72 and it seems sluggish on the low end.

Do you think that they are worth the price? I'm just looking for a bigger tire to give me more stability and traction for when I switch to the 2.5r. Being heavier isn't necesarily a bad thing either because even with the setup I have when I give it throttle it picks the front tires up just enough to make the steering bad.
