got my new my 2.5r today when i went to put on the back plate and my ezstart shaft. i noticed there no place on the crank for the ezstart to catch? do i need a different crank for it to work with my ezstart ????? my old 2.5 had a little knob on the end of the crank, and this one is flat to the con rod shaft?

never mind in figured it out! the 2.5r i bought was a bump start, they have a different crank than 2.5r with an ez/pull start. guess i will swap out the crank from my other motor !

Seems you bought an engine set up for a bump box or roto start. Yes you need a different crank to use the ez start. Where did you buy the engine and can you send it back for exchange? If not all you can do is rob the crank out of your old 2.5R and backplate if needed. Or buy the bigger flywheel for trx smallblock engines and a bump box.

i bought it from a guy off a rc heli forum. i was going to just swap out the crank from my old 2.5 but i found a brand new one on ebay for $5.00 (yes you read that right) $5.00 shipped, so i'm just going to put in a new one to be safe !!

Always best to use a new crank. I've seen them go for $1.00 on ebay.

i was going to use my old one....and thought better of it, and went with a new one ! figured no reason to put used crank in a new motor, avoid the possibility of a failure !

and to be honest i thought WWSD (what would Snook do) !!! LOL !

hey i'll take $5.00 most of the ones i saw on eaby were 25-35 $$$$

PLEASE note: this is a copy and past. i posted it else where. i dont normally copy and past, but it saves me time, and typing.///////i took two E-Zstart batts and wired them in series to get double voltages. it seams to do ok if the starter isnt run to long. but iam not sure the starter turns faster, but iam guessing it is. but dont run the starter for long times, my idea is not more than 20-30 seconds. be sure and keep watch on over heating ,of the battery's, and motor. to re charge disconect all the wires and charge as if each one is by its self. BUT YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN!!!
