So its the FASST system that gets you. Damn...i have 2 other trucks i want to witch over. Oh well. Maybe for my birthday.
I thought the same thing when I was shopping for my spektrum... at the time, was near $200 for the xmitter and receiver, then another $100 for each receiver. So a minimum of $400 to get all my rigs on it. I got lucky though with mine as I bought it used off ebay for around $120 with a receiver, then picked up a second off a buddy in trade and two more receivers from various forum members for around $50 a piece.
I really wanted the airtronics one, but it wasn't as common. I liked my MX-3 FM xmitter screen, but knew I would fork out a premium on the receivers if I went with their 2.4G version.
I plan to get a buggy or a truggy in a couple months and I was wondering how to do one controller for multiple cars. I heard they have ABS and stuff like that. The controller that comes with my Jato is the weird crappy stock kind and it always blinks to tell me my batteries are low. I was wondering about investing in a better transmitter.
It depends on the controller as far as the features are concerned.
My spektrum 3.0 has a 4 model memory, which is a low number these days. You have to bind each receiver to the transmitter. You do this for each model memory number and receiver. When I switch models on the xmitter, it switches to the receiver I bound that model number too.
When you set up the model, you set up the servo EPA's and trims for each model number for the specific vehicle your going to use that model number for. When you have everything setup and you switch model memory numbers, those settings are stored so all you have to do is switch the model on the xmitter and go.
I am using 3 models at the moment. Have a 4th in the mail and a spare receiver ready to use. Which means I'm maxed out on what my transmitter can do, so if I get another rig, I have to either buy a new transmitter (that will work with my current receivers), or transplant one of my current ones to the 5th vehicle. Although... I don't see a 5th in my future any time soon.
