looking for info from people who run these stupid things (or hell the slash, bandit, stampede sense its all the same gearbox). I'm going to be throwing a 10.5 motor on 2s in a "rustler". looking for gearing input. thinking about 22/86 as the starting point unless someone with experience has a better idea. needs to work for longer runs (10+ minutes) on everything from thick grass to asphalt. willing to sacrifice some top speed for some low end punch. so what's your $.02?

How dare you. I ain't stupid 🙄 🤣 (imo the cars aren't either. They are just good entry level cars and fun to run cars.)

If I remember pretty sure I run 23/86 in mine with a 4000kv, which is the stock vxl spec gearing I'm sure. I can run it on the track for practice with a 5200mah pack for a good 15 minutes. I can bash it with the ramp/in the grass and the street for about 20 minutes before I check the voltage and motor temps.

Edit: running the same 23/86 gearing in my slash but with a 3660 4000kv motor instead of a 3652 in my rusty. Tried 27/76 in the slash and didn't work out since I couldn't get the gear mesh looser. Tried 27/76 in my rusty for speed runs / passes and works, but for bashing and on track it will overheat in no time.

Just looking at the manual gearing recommendations and doing some 2.72:1 rollout figures... you should be in the ballpark, but motor quality, tires, and driving style will be huge factors. You know the drill...
