Does anyone know if any manufacturer makes a standard 1/8 scale clutch bell with more than 18 teeth?

I am looking for a 20cb for my Monster GT with the Picco .26 in it.

TIA

maybe....

i don't know about your vehicle but couldn't you just get a different main gear? if you got a main gear with less teeth that should do the same thing i think.

The smallest spur gear I can find for a Monster GT is a 46tooth... which I already have.

The largest cb I can find is an 18tooth.

I need a 20cb or a 19t cb to work with my 46t spur gear.

Just guessing here but you ought to be able to use a 1/10th scale clutch bell. I've been using for the most part clutch bells I bought for my t-maxx on my 1/8th scale engines without problems.

Uh... I don't think so dude.

My GT weights 12 lbs, and I'm running the Picco .26 in it. I already had to buy aluminum clutch shoes, and even those get hot with the 18/46 gear ratio.

I bought NOVA clutch shoes, and I have all 6 weights in the clutch shoes just to keep the clutch hooked up.

And I'm running a hyper21, HPI 21BB, and a Kyosho GS21R and all of them are using clutch bells I bought originally for my t-maxx. You asked for advise, I put in my :2cents: You don't like it, that's fine but don't try to say I'm stupid for doing something that works for me.

The main question is are the CB and spur gears compatible, pitch wise.

The other thing is if there were a 20t CB, would you be able to mount the engine? On the savage with the 52t spur, the largest CB you can put on is an 16t.

One other thing to consider is the tradeoff between high speed and low end torque. The higher the gear, the higher the top end speed, but at a loss of low end acceleration.

Aluminum shoes don't mean squat. It's a metal on metal thing that generates alot of heat. That causes the same thing as brake fade. That's why you need all the weights to keep it hooked up. A good 3 or 4 shoe flywheel with composite shoes works alot better. But hey, whatever works for you....

I never said you were stupid?

If you ever put a Picco .26 in a 12 lb truck, and gear it like this, you would understand where I am comming from. It would tear T Maxx clutch shoes up in about 5 minutes.

I just asked if someone made a larger CB. Right now, the truck is geared 18/46, and it still flips over backwards, and does wheelies from a roll in low gear. Its got plenty of low end still..... I'm trying to get it to run 50mph. So far, 41 mph is the best I have gotten with this gear ratio.

Thanks for trying to help. I already found a 20t bell on another site.

I'm not talking the shoes, I'm talking the bell. They do make aluminum clutch shoes for a t-maxx as well as my t-maxx with a 21 levels the scale about 12 pounds as well!

Well, my maxx weighs in 15lbs. I use a 19 cb/72 spur with an OS 21 RG and stock composite clutch shoes. I'll be starting gallon #3 on the shoes and they are hardly worn.

I've also used MIP's maxx shoes and didn't notice much, if any, improvment in either life or take off.

Dude, lfirst off, the T Maxx clutch bells have a different pitch to the gears, so I would have to change over to a Traxxas spur gear. (which is possible) But I would also have to cut the crank off of all my engines, and buy all new flywheels, clutch shoes, clutch bells, bearings, and on and on and on.... Plus, I'm not 100% certain that the CB would line up with the spur gear unless the engine mount is relocated farther toward the passenger side of the truck. Not to mention, the end result would be using a 10th scale clutch, designed for a 9 lb small block powered 10th scale truck, on an 1/8th scale, 12 lb truck, with a 3 HP modified Picco .26 in it.

I have had big block T Maxx trucks before, geared 22/64, with an Ofna Hyper 21, and yea.... it ran good, but it had no where near the power of a stock Picco .26, much less a modified Picco .26.

Back when I had my big block truciks geared that steep, the stock clutch shoes only lasted about 1 or 2 weekends.

So, no, I'm not going to go cut the ends off all my cranks, buy all new clutch parts for a T MAXX that I already know won't hold up in my MGT.

Like I said, I already found a 20 1/8 scale cb. THANKS ANYWAY.

Hey Bill, who makes the CB ? Was it an OFNA or Kyosho?

Just curious as I found the same problem you did. Very limited options.

Here ya go Chris.

I'm not busting your nuts, but are the teeth on those CB's aluminum?

Hmmmm, if GPM makes it I can't see why RRP wouldnt have one out there now. Especially for the Savage.

How has it held up for you?

just checked Racers Edge site and nothing there. I like there CB's. Usually vented and come with the bearrings. No dice though.
