To all you buggy drivers which engines do you perfer on your buggy. Getting my engine in two days for my mbx-5 need some repleys on this won.

if you have a mbx-5 a buggy of that level deserves an RB WS7 (a few guys at the local track run RB CS 5-ports ...actually "sport level" engines according to RB, and they rip), novarossi P5, O.S. V-spec, among other nice mills on the market. i personallly run a V-spec, and its a set and forget tune engine with enough power for any level of racing, being smooth enough for a beginner but having more than enough power for a world class driver, IMO.

If you don't race, I'd suggest a Dynamite Mach .26. It is a pretty strong motor and only runs about $150.

If you go to RCBOYZ then you can get a Picco 26 outlaw for under 175 bux shipped. Even a Werks Picco.

Before you guys get all wound up about a new Picco .36 engine, I believe jon means .26......I know there must be 10 of you right now looking on the rcboys web page for the "new" engine. :hammer:

You need a .21 then. Hobby People has their .21 pro model on sale for an excellent price, pretty good engine http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/146024.asp pretty good price at 120. Limited stock so get cracking on that. Someone said the OS v-spec was on sale for 250....pretty steep, but a great motor. You can find P5's for about 250 also and they are a good racing engine. Mac .21 was on sale...still might be at 209 at ashfords hobbies(not sure of the link there) The Mac isn't that well known, but it is one of the BEST racing engines out there and the customer service is some of the best in the business. You can get ahold of them on the starting grid site under the offroad forum. I think for the price the Mac is the way to go..those guys will help you in any way they can. I had a CMB Raptor engine in my buggy (similar to the mac, but different!) and think it is the best engine I have owned and I have had a few. Long story short, get the XTM .21 pro if you are on a budget..120 is a great price, and the Mac if you are not. 209 is a great deal on a world class engine.(if they are still on sale)

If your a racer then go with the proven mill rb ws711 hands down.300$ you will get what you pay for you here these guys talk about the xtm, mac, picco, and what not.but can they say I got 4 to 7 gallons of fuel through them??? before they needed a rebuild probley not.A lot of people talk about paying 150$ for a mill and say it a tourqe monster and there right but so is the RB line. what there not telling you is that after 1 to 2 gallons they are rebuilding them or tossing them. This is not the case with the RB.So what iam trying to say here is you can buy a cheap mill and get some good use out off it and throw it away when your done or you can spend a little more and get twice to use out of it if not more and be money ahead of the game..

keep in mind this is IMO

*edit* i for got to say i do have a ws711 with 2 gallons in her and is still as tight as the day i brought her home.

Rb WS7II is one of the best, no doubt about it. $300bones is alot for the average racer, if he is asking the likes of you and I about engines he probably is not ready for the $300 RB. I thought I gave him some good ideas for someone needing advice, the Mac will last as long as the RB and is just as good quality wise for $100 less. When the Mac is not on sale it would be :hammer: a toss up.

how can you say its a toss up??? you have never ran the mac..
i have and from my experince with them they do compair with the RB line but are just not there..and ill say this again this is IMO. I was in no way disscridting you in any way this is just my oppion on this subject

SO go with the best or die like the rest in the garbage can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry man I read you post all wrong Iam tired just went back and reread it

MY bad iwas reading it like this
if he is asking the likes of you.

about engines he probably is not ready for the $300 RB. I thought I gave him some good

sorry man

hey now dont make the monster blocks sound so crappy i got almost 5 gallons thru one of my xtm 24.7's! but yes the truth is you get what you pay for in nitro engines. the lower priced monster blocks and .21's make decent (sometimes great) power but wont last as long as a nova based engine. if 250$+ sounds too steep for you id recommend an RB S5 or S7II, both for about 210-230$, and same great RB quality. even the "economy" 3 and 5 port RB's (150-185$) are great. I've also seen novarossi p5's brand new for 220$.

i do not have enough fuel thru my V-spec yet to claim long life, i can say at about 3 quarts i still have serious with-out the plug cold pinch. i can vouch for set and forget tuning and 20 minute main reliability coming off the track at 210 degrees, while making smooth, but brutal power.

Jim Hottinger was Ron Paris' right hand man for nearly twenty years, and knows a thing or two about how to modified motors.

this being if you plan to race of course...both engines are worth the bucks....i have also heard good things from the rb concepts ws7II but i haven't owned one so i can't elaborate....

also i might add this...if your looking for a really good .21 on a low budget that is fair for racing and bashing take a look at the o.s. max .21rg...or the ofna hyper.21 8 port....i have owned both of these engines and they are awsome for the price...u can get either for around $109 new or even cheaper off of ebay

hope this helps ya out....Mitch

For the money the Hyper 8 Port would be a good choice, if I had to choose an engine in that price range I would go with the 8 Port.
