Hello, I'm wanting to get into 1/8 brushless buggy raceing cause their awsome!
Anyway, I'm going to buy a roller on ebay, probably something like a ofna hyper 8 with a brushless conversion.(150$) And i want to go all hobbyking and hobbypartz and stuff like that to keep the price somewhat low. so what motor and esc whould you guys reccomend? i would like to spend around 60 bucks for a motor and the same for the esc. And it needs to be atleast 4s powered.Sorry, I'm new to the buggy stuff so some of this may sound dumb,:hehe:

If you're racing, I would stay with the better known brands such as Castle Creations or Tekin. You're also looking at ROAR approved hard battery packs for about $99 a piece and you'll need 2. Larger scale models like the 1/8 scale buggies and monster trucks are going to be more expensive to buy the ESC/Motor.

ok, so what castle creations setup? I'm trying to keep the cost low. I know most of the tekin setups are about 330 bucks. I know a guy at my track that got all hobbypartz and hobbyking in his buggy, motor and esc, and it is fast and keeps up with the really expensive ones! And again, I'm a begginer i dont need the best of the best.Thanks.

Get the Hobbywing Xerun 2000kv setup, or look for the 2200kv Speed Passion combo. The SP combo goes for around 140$ at amain and stormer, and it's made by hobbywing.

I have a 80a xerun in my 8ight-e and am loving it. Castle is good too. Both are better than Tekin IMO. I've seen far to many of them fail after some use.

ok,that looks good, is it controllable on a track?hah, because i hear that the cc 2200kv motor is way to powerfull for raceing a buggy.

I have a 2200 in mine, it's toned down to 85% epa. With that in mind a 1900 is the best choice for a 4s setup.

I'm gonna keep running my 2200 until funds allow a upgrade.

Nope that's a 1/10 scale setup. Hobbywing don't do a motor smaller than 2000kv for 1/8.

You'll need to look elsewere for a lower kv motor.
