Well the RC18T Sprint Car bodies and wings came in from Mcallister Racing. It's taking some cutting and altering to get the 6" 1/10th wing to fit but it's getting there. After this 1st one the rest will be easier. I have 2 Sprint Car bodies and 2 Modifieds coming for the MiniT. I bought 2 yesterday and have 2 more coming Tuesday.
Well I started working one one Sprint Car. I didn't get it finished yet but here's a few pics of the Mamba RC18T. The wing isn't attached. I was just looking it over and I've figured a way to eliminate that space in front of the wing. This one is a learning experience. The next will be easier and will be the way I do the rest and will have pictures for the "How To" section on my site.

I dont' mean to be a peepee.. really, I don't. But... that looks horrible. It looks like it just wants to fall right over. Honestly, I think the wing is just waaay too big for 1/18th scale. Good luck in your project but I just think it's visually off balance. Personally, If it were my project I would fab my own wing out of CF and Lexan. However it isn't my project but all in all I hope it works better than it looks.

Well peepee(j/k) if you're on a bank track and turning left that weight on the inside isn't going to hurt is it? LOL. The side panels will be a little shorter on the future wings. Please do one. I'd like to see what you can do. You can get the Sprint car body at http://www.mcallisterracing.com/racing/page13.html for $9.99. Show us all how talented you are.....

I never thought it wouldn't work. I just think it looked awkward. If the wing were smaller it would be perfect. I will say however that it looks a crapload better after getting rid of that gap, that made a tremendous difference.

No.
I didn't challenge you to a talent contest. I gave you my opinion. That is why you share your projects right? for feedback.

I would have shortened these up but I already had the decals (decals $8 a sheet) on and I wasn't about to ruin the whole #23 theme. Next one will be all BRP Nylon Pop rivets too, no screws. The 1/10 wing came with instructions but not how to adapt it to fit the 1/18th. Everything had to be cut at least twice...........My camera is on the charger now for the next "wing job". Probably be around a 10 page "How To" section on my site.

Those are the pop rivets in the wing in the second picture. I had to make some changes and didn't paint the new bottom ones. They work pretty easy too. Just drill 1/8 " hole put the rivet in and push it.

Yes really nice. Another good thing, if you need to change them you just go behind them with your curved lexan sissors and cut them and pop them back out.

Very nice work Bill.
It looks pretty darn close to authentic.
Trust me I know a lot about the 1:1 version of sprint cars or at least used to up until about 12-13 years ago.

TY Strech. I can't wait to get action shots and video of multiples of my Pickups, Sprints (when they get here and I get them all done) and modifieds (same as Sprints) going around the track my son and I are building in my back yard. I'm thinking about leaving the street tires on them so they drift more in the turns (at least the 4WD RC18Ts)....LOL

Definately! That'll be pretty sweet. How large is the track you are building?

20' long and 8' wide with the straights being 3' wide. Both turns will be banked. Turns 3&4 are already naturally banked (fence there) at around 45 degrees. the 1&2 end will probably be around the same. We'll have a lot of sod to build off of. The back straight will be naturally banked at around 20 degrees(fence there too). You know everybody's asking about "all the weight on the top", with all left turns and banked, that's the way it should be. I'll take a little off the next one. Don't know if I'll be using wings on the 2wd MiniTs. Those bodies should be here tomorrow or Tuesday(2 sprints and 2 modifieds). I've still got another one of these to do. Looks like I won't be getting the new bodies till Thursday. They got left at the terminal in Flagstaff AZ and were delayed! Gotta love that UPS Tracking though.....

This is the Sprint car body for the MiniT. I don't think the Losi 2WD can handle the extra weight of the wing so I'm going to leave them like this.

MiniT Modified (2 of these coming, My son is ordering 2 too)

Parma has one too, but it comes as 2 pieces of flat die cut stock that needs to be bent. I used a brake that belonged to my old boss from when I did siding to bend mine. I think I'm going to like McAllister's better. The center part is molded.

Lousy weather for pictires. Maybe tomorrow. I'm going to work on making the wing smaller on the Red and White car. Pretty sure I know what I need to do so I don't ruin the one that's on there now. I went and picked up the 4 new MiniT bodies at UPS this morning.

I was thinking White, but my RC store guy just got in SPAZ STIX paints and they have a Chrome. I got a bottle of their "airbrush" gold to red color change paint to try on my MiniT Baja Bug body. If I like the paint I'll try the Chrome. poop's expensive though $8.89 for a small bottle, $11.89 for a rattle can! Then you have to buy the paint to back it....LOL
