Hello I just bought a traxxas revo 3.3
I am having problems with over heating, during break in it was staying good at 260 and after break in it’s going up too 360 super fast. I love in central Florida so I know it’s super hot outside and humid. If anyone could help me out so I need to richen or lean high speed needle or is my problem somewhere else. I am convinced it’s my tuning but I can’t seem to find any difference if I lean it or richen it, everything sounds alright and I go a nice stream of smoke coming out. I am using the link app to determine temp, that’s about all the information I know to give you, if you need anymore info just let me know.

Welcome. What fuel and plug are you using? Sounds like you are super lean.. you need to richen the HSN. . Did you turn in the HSN after break in.. from factory should be 4 turns out from closed. After the 5 tank. So tank 6 you can start to lean it out for performance.. but with it hot and humid..you might not want to lean out to much..here are some articles about break in and tunning..

If richening up the high speed needle isnt bringing temps down then you may have an air leak. You may also want to double check your temps with an IR temp gun.

I am using the plug that came with the truck if you could let me know the specs of the supplied plug I’d like to by quantity on Amazon or something. and I am using sidewinder fuel, I’ve read that sidewinder fuel runs hotter so I was ok with it at 260 and I did mess with it once it hit 300. Then it started raining so had to stop. Now it’s super humid out.

Where would I find an air leak? It’s brand new never crashed yet. Just finished the break in + 1 tank of nitro

So I have richened up the mixture and no matter what I do it still goes up too 300 its brought the temp down but not enough.

I run. #3 or #4 in my maxx 3.3. If your stock it's probably a med-long plug and with it being hot and humid.. you want a hot plug.. what % fuel you running 29% 30% 33%. And what oil %

Whats the temp done there I'm in jersey.. the stock really won't work in really hot humid.. Traxxas says to use long/med plug...Basically their stock plug... but it's really too hot to be running nitro.. I don't usually run my nitros. When it's above 75°.. its more of 70° and below for me to run nitro

Thank you so much for your help and I’m running 20% idk about oil %

Tou don't have to cut a hole you can just drill some holes in windshield.. Will send pics of mine in a few

No problem been running traxxas nitros since 2002-2003 after the Tmaxx 2.5 came out I had to have it

The one on the right is shelf liner. And drilled holes on left

Ok so after tuning what I felt perfect I checked temps on the link app and I was getting reading of 380-430 I checked with a temp gun and I was only at 260 I feel good about that setting considering it’s 98 outside and humid as fiddlesticks.

260F isnt horrible. If it was really getting up to 380F plus it would be cooking itself. You would be able to tell that its too hot in a fairly short amount of time.

Is the app in Celsius and not Fahrenheit bud?

If your engine got that hot on those readings ,your engine would be gurgling an the fuel
that enters the block will be boiling inside ,you would know when that happens by the sound
the sound of boiling after you shut the engine down!..🤔

The 3.3 at 260°F.. that is a good temp for that nitro engine...over 270 is starting to overheat...I would trust the temp sensors on that app one bit... glad you got it running good bud👍👍👍

Or it will just blow a rod or lock up and seize...that would be super bad or the head would be smoking
