We've owned a tow behind camper for a while now and since owning one I think I've paid more attention to people's towing more now than ever, and I always get a kick out of what people try to tow and what they try to tow with.

Here's a prime example, this happened not terribly far from me a few weeks ago. This guy using a Nissan to pull what is probably a 30+ foot long travel trailer. Just so many things wrong with this picture.

When we were shopping for a camper, I wanted something small and easy to tow.
First of all it's less wear and tear on my Tundra, better gas mileage,
and I am able to maneuver in tighter spots when remote camping.
Rarely do we sit inside the camper unless it's raining. I'm not a fan of taking
a house camping.
So much safer with a smaller low weight trailer.

My goodness! Must've been wind and/or no swaybars. Swaybars are REALLY handy, but even then...

I wasn't there nor is this my picture so I can't say 100% for sure, but from what I'm seeing or not seeing is a tow vehicle that is greatly overloaded. A hitch that doesn't appear to have any kind of WDH on it and a trailer coupler that has come off the ball - this makes me believe the ball was probably only a 2" ball and not a 2 5/16" ball as it should be, otherwise that coupler should have never came off the hitch.

The only thing that's connecting these two together are the safety chains.

Ultimately, this is the drivers' fault 100%. He/She should have known this vehicle is not suited for this trailer and should have known it's towing capacity. That said, I have personally seen it before, where camper salesmen will simply look at your truck across the lot (say an F150) and say oh yeah that will tow it no problems and sadly so many people believe these salesmen know what they are talking about and go with it. Not realizing that F150 has no business pulling that 40' 19,000lb fith wheel.

I used to drive I-70 about 60 miles each way to work. I often saw people pulling stuff they had no business pulling. I saw a number of people with huge trailers, too big for their vehicle, or flatbed trailers loaded improperly, and swaying back and forth. I always got around those morons as quickly as I could.

Here's a good demonstration.
