I personally don't run in water after my experience with it.

Surface rust can be slowed by some lubricants like WD40. I spray some into a junk plastic container then use a Qtip to place some on hardware.

Bearings and internals are another story.

Does anybody know how to stop rust on a trx4m?
I don't have any rust issues on mine but what works quite well is putting your rusted parts into distilled white vinegar, leave them there for 10 minutes, then transfer it to water with baking soda for a bit to make sure it doesn't flash rust. I did it on my full size trx-4 and it worked flawlessly. Everyone here kinda knows I beat the living hell out of my trx-4 and it's seen many creeks. Opposite of what @DavidB1126 and @CreepyQuarryCrawler said lol
