xxx-t range problem

My friends xxx-t has a range problem. It is the rtr version with a jr system, mamba 6400 system. He can go about 15-20 feet away and it starts to cut out. he replaced the receiver and had the same problem.

How are the Tx batteries, also has the receiver atena been altered or shortened? if both of these things are ok I would look into the Tx as being part of the problem, if you can try a different Tx.

The batteries are brand new. The receiver antenna is not altered. the receiver is pretty new and I tried his controller on my truck and it works fine. I put my receiver that works in his and now it get about 10 more feet but could get farther away with it in my xxx-t mf2(which I am selling rtr)
