Okay, today me and my cousin went out and bashed today with the buggies. He broke his second diff. cover today. The way the wing it mounted to the "ear" on topof the cover, If it takes a hard hit the case breaks everytime. He's wanting to know if there is any subsitute that may not break as easy? Thanx

the x-terminator and the storm both have that weakness, the storm has an aftermaket item to brace it...but the xtm youll have to fab your own

this is the most popular way of doing it..although i used 2 tie rods from a t-maxx and made my own style which i believe is much stronger.

I understand that the Storm is set up very similair but it seems the XTM is just braced upon that. The GS has alot more bracings it seems. I've took countless hits on my wing and nothing. He took one each day dn cracked one each day

On the stock storm shock tower (rtr at least, not sure about the pro) the thing only mounts to the top two "ears."

I have an aftermarket one that also mounts to the two little ears sticking out the side. Perhaps this makes it stronger, we'll have to see. It's still only plastic but the extra support surely can't hurt.

ps. I've asked a lot of folks what the weaknesses of the Storm are, and this is the first I've heard of this.

Like i said, I've never broke my Storm's diff case. My cousin broke his X-Terminator DElux diff case. It just seems like the Storm's is strong for some reason.

I took my Storm into the lhs a few days ago for repairs and upgrades. We then to the Storm out to the parking lot and after a few minutes i lost radio control (damn) of it.
It took off full speed and hit a prett steep curb sending the front end straight up into the air. The Storm then pivoted and headed straight back to us at 40mph DOING A Wheelie the whole time. Funny as hell. The front wheels pointing to the sky and the car accelerating right at us.
What happened when it hit the curb was to throw it back on the wing which snapped it and left the rear shock tower dangling free. That's what caused the wheelie. Thankfully my lhs guys are awesome and the part was replaced in 15 min. Scary stuff though I hate runaway rc vehicles. Especially if they are mine.

I lost control of my storm one day when I broke the battery packa dn it was stuck at WOT turning right. WEll I was running after it in these huge circles(you know how a buggy turns at WOT) during the whole process my cousin it to scared to let his savage just idle to help(Who was screaming for my help when your when loco) So my parents pull up at the top of the heal and are just sitting there laughing at me runnign in circle and then it just goes flying towards a creek( this is a deep end where the water goes underground at fast speeds) adn my buggy is going to end its life, right as it got about 10 foot fromt he bank gas ran out and it went dead about 5 foot fromt he bank. WHOA!

the storm pro uses the same diff tab mounting system as the storm RTR. i have broken my storm pros tabs once....and it also bent both my rear shock shafts at the same time. have since added the ergal diff brace piece...I'm sure it is stronger but i do not bash with my storm pro very hard as I'm trying to keep t for the track. on my x-terminator i broke it twice on consecutive days out....so IMO the xtm's tabs break easier...although after doing my own style of brace i have 100% confidence in the xtm while bashing...no matter how hard i crash or roll i dont even do that "cringe" you normally do when you know your gona case hard..and in the wrong way.

For me, I only have three friends so far with these things (peer pressure!) so when one of theirs breaks I'm like "damn, now who am I going to play with on Saturday..."
