Xtm mammoth st

I have the xtm mammoth st rtr. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about replacing the suspension from the st with the one from the mammoth mt? I like the dual shocks in the front and have been doing some rather large jumps and would like to upgrade a little. Is that a good idea? Also any other tips anyone have to offer about the mammoth st? Just got it less than a month ago and looking for good ideas to do to my truck.

Just from a design perspective, the dual shocks on the OG mammoth is more for looks than anything. Considering the pivot point of the second inside shock, there is so much leverage that the outside shock is taking all the punishment. So, having the 2 shock per arm setup is more or less just costing more $ and causing more maintenance.

If anything, you could try a different brand of shock if your not happy with the 4 XTM shocks on the ST. Although, mine have been holding up pretty good to some decent punishment. I run at a skatepark and local refinery. I get decent air under the truck. The chassis slaps the ground pretty good with 6 feet of air or more under, but it seems to handle ok otherwise.

I thought the same thing as you, but after looking around on forums and whatnot, guys said the OG mammoth suspension kind of sucked. So I didn't bother.

No problem.

FYI, the 2 speed blows chunks... I kept blowing out spur gears and it would kick out and in gear on me for no good reason. Considering spur gears are $12 a piece, I replaced them 3 times, then bought a center diff.

The center diff is $50 and a little slower off the line and top end, but I haven't had a spur problem since. Also, the center diff really helps in making the front/rear diffs last longer. That solid center drive train is hell on diffs and chews them up. Since they cost about $30 a piece on ebay (when you can find them), I didn't want to replace diffs all the time. So I got a center one.

Also, the bracing in the rear stinks. The little ball end pops off all the time. I made a brace out of 5/16" steel bar, but dadders makes one. It's pricey, but it looks a lot better than mine. If you buy one, be careful to buy the one for the ST and not the OG mammoth.

Body mounts break easy as well. I just replaced mine with some for a t-maxx the other day.
