I just got done reading the bench test that XRC did on a nitrous injection system for RCs.

According to their testing it works well boosting the output as advertised.
I will have to say I have always been skeptical and at times totally un-believing of the clams that have been made. My Bad.

They did broach the subject of cost to operate as well as wear and tear on the engine but gave little to no details.

I wonder if they will test the Super Charger next.

yea it may give you a little more power, but the price is what gets me. you can get a faster motor for that, not counting having to refil the "nos" bottle and you have mo powar all the time, plus you have to upgrade to a three ch radio if you dont have one.

Based upon prior opinions floating around on this forum I was leary of the product, but the chart posted in the article shows a definite improvement based upon their own in-house bench test.

All that said, I wonder if the cost vs performance is going to hurt sales. I guess for bashers or drag racers cost might not be a factor.

I want to k now is would it hold up when bashing?

I think they did a supercharger sometime back, it showed "some" perf gain but it wasn't anything you would notice, hell I think what the numbers showed as an increase would be lost from the added weight.

Which kit did they test? Was it the nitrous express one? That's the only one that I would buy just because it's a good company and they won't release a crap product that doesn't work.

I saw a vid of a truck with nitrous a while back and I'm been a believer since. It just makes sense I guess. Forced air is a totally different story.

I wasn't going to post this, but since people are starting to "come around" to RC nitrous, NX had new kits for RCs at the SEMA show this year, including one for gas engines. I can imagine a HPI Baja with the sauce on it! Boo-yah!

Doesn't the NOS gas perform the same task as the nitromethane in the fuel (oxygenator)?

I wonder if you could obtain simliar results by blending your own fuel with very high nitro content? Top-fuel dragsters run on 100% nitromethane and achieve crazy power outputs (7,000hp?). Obviously in a 2-stroke engine you could need to keep at least 10% oil content in there for lubrication and cooling.

I still it's CRAP!!!!!
I'm just envisioning another lil gizmo that gets knocked around while flying 10ft+ through the air and landing hard.......look at the tank primer bulb....yes it's nice to not burn your finger on a hot pipe after running the tank bone dry....but the headaches it causes just make it not worth it.....
K.I.S.S.
(for the unknowing that's Keep It Simple Stupid)

I would like to see a longer term test. Wouldn't the NOS help keep the temps lower and make it run leaner to keep your temps up, all the while being harder on the engine? I could see it benificial for maybe drag racing and the sort, but for anyone not interested in rebuilding their engines, I dunno...

We never tested a Super Charger or ever had one in the office to test.

The NX kit was the one tested and the review is actually posted on our website.

Someone did, I just can't remember who. BTW, DerekB, you going to be at the Midwest Gas Champs in OH in Jan? I see your mag is a sponsor of sorts.
