Mitch

Its nice to see a site for local racers.
So often no one takes the time to set one up for all the different local tracks that are in the same area. Usually every track has one for them self and people have to go from site to site just to get the local picture.

Keep up the good work and I hope all goes well.

Just a little side note:
You should contact WoodiE if you havent already and get permission to use the copyrited RCNT Logo as your website header without the RCNT name attached.

i have been contacted and its removed...i hope there is no bad blood....but i thought if it was online and you could copy/paste it....it wasn't stealing as i was referred to in an email.....sorry about that....i will be making my own from now on....

hope there is no bad blood...peace

well i fell victim to the XB8's achillies heel today. i broke the front upper turnbuckle. darn shame too because its the best I've ever run. at least I'm really close to a good setup now though.

why don't you replace it now with a titanium part?
a lunsford or one of the other brands would fit

My Prospec comes with titanium steering turnbuckles. They break too. I'd just buy a couple of them to keep in your pit box, and call it a day.

Hyped is right, everything breaks. mine took quite a bit of punishment before giving up the fight. I've already called robert at ashford hobbies about ordering a replacement and spares. should be in this week in time to race again next week.

glad to see that I'm not the only one that broke my car in the weekend

you are a wild bunch !

perhaps the cold had something to do with it, making parts more snappy

did you break your prospec Mike?
yeah i broke the prospec :( got t boned in mid air, flattened my tune pipe smashed my front upright/turnbuckle, and what sucked most was it was a guy who was already 2 laps back, dont think it was the actuall hit that broke the turn buckle but the awkward landing after it.

Hows that xb8 going corrado

going pretty well. so far I'm up to 3 broken parts in about 1.75 gallons, of all track time. i finally have a setup i really like. I'm actually running 40wt up front and 30wt in the back with 1.5 pistons now. really light, but it works well with the car.

yeah our guys that are doing well with them are running down to 20wt with bigger holes to get the suspension to work better, weve been running in some pretty hidious Track conditions over here of late, even I'm down to 25wt on the prospec with 1.9 single holes and a serious amout of front kick up and anti squat, be nice if people would do a bit of track maintance, sounds like you have broken more parts than me, what you been hitting

psi...thats close to what i am running in mine...40front and 35 rear...

i feel it works well in the xb8...but i run #5 clips in front and #4's in rear with light blue springs...

i still gotta figure out the new 3pk tho...i have to much throttle response and sometimes it causes the car to just spin out in the corners....i need to adjust the -(neg) expo's...or something...but i'll get it figured out ....as for the broke parts....i have broken like 5 front a-arms and 2 upper on the same side...2 sets of hinge pins....and a bulkhead....i'm telling ya that 30 foot quad is rough when you come up short at almost WFO........lol

oh yeah and as for the site it is now

www.midsouthrc.net

i am site admin so if anyone wants a track added to our tracks list...email me pics and info to
[email protected]

and i'll get it listed for ya.....peace

i havent broken much mike. just turnbuckle. rear hub. and a rear camber link. thats all since i bought it. its been very reliable for my hack driving ass. (knock on wood).

Okay I'm in the club now guys....I got an XB-8....used but only raced 4 days and practiced 2.......I was just curious if the prospec engine mount would work in the XB8 and would it make the chssis stiffer? I have yet to re-build the buggy and go through it yet, but before I run it I wanted to know if that mount would help....and any other suggestions would be good....I read most of this thread and every one was still building so if there are any new tips you guys have I'd appreciate them.....currently set up w/ 7k-5k-1k w/ 35 fr/rr shock oil.....I don't know the wheel alignment stuff yet but what's the camber and toe to run w/ this beast? I'm going to run it w/ a RG for a while...but I have a V-spec ready for when I take the plunge.......

I run:

5000/7500/2000
40/40 with 1.4 piston fr./1.5 conical rear
springs: fr. dark blue, rear light blue
short wheelbase
15° front caster = insert without dod ( )
front 0.5 toe-out
rear 2.5 toe-in

What type of track conditions do you get mostly...hard smooth, rough soft?
Are you running a really ridiculous engine in that? why do you have more traction to your center diff?...just curious not bashing....

little curvy track
rough plenty of holes
soft sand in turns
straight hard long and holes
I drive a STS .21 engine , not so far from p5 power

7500 in the middle is just because it is mixed from 5000+10000
but with these settings you get a nice crisp steering response with the rear just following on a rail ,but ready to reacte more active not so lazy as stock
like it should

if I'm running an RG do you think I'd have similar reations or is that not enough engine for it to make a difference.....I just want to get used to a real buggy efore I put the V-Spec in it...when I do that I know I'll be tuning the diffs all sorts of ways to see what I like.......I suggested doing 7-10-1.5 in my friends MBX-5 when he dropped a WS7 II in it and it hooked up like it had spikes....we only did that cause he was just balloning the fronts and not hooking up......the diff fluid made a huge change for the better......Ifigured I'd try the same when I change mills.....
