hey guys id like to know what you think of this thing... I'm about to choose this thing over a kyosho.. i dont need that kyosho steering any way but this thing is lighter than the MP777.

its really nice to drive. changes direction very easily due to the low weight and more central polar moment. it also accelerates very quickly compared to any other buggy, and thats gene hickerson's opinion not my own. the drivetrain is about the smoothest of any buggy on the market. so far all I've broken is a rear hub and upper camber link, this was due to a "full wood" hit by an mbx5 comming back onto the racing line and hitting me directly in the rear wheel.

I have driven PSI's and it is SMOOTH. I am basing this on driving it after a afternoon of racing my stock GS Storm RTR. It was truely night and day difference. I'm sure the dig. servos and the V-spec had something to do with this as well, but it drives REALLY smooth.

I was just going to post a new topic about the x-ray.I'am also looking into the buggy.Xtreme rc had an article on the xb8 they gave it a pretty dam good review.Tax season is coming up.The only thing I dont like about it,its the first one they came out with, its like a real car never buy the frist production year.thats what i get for being in the car buisness

i have seen that article but I've been following this thing sence the IFMAR worlds and it did ok... they jsut need the drivers to show how well it can do

they just started putting together the US team last week with the release of the kits from customs. looks to be 6 traveling racers, I'm not sure on total count including non-travelers though.

I saw an XB8 at my local track tonight. I't looked nice from what I saw. The guy that had one was also selling one NIB for $625. said regularly $650. Is that true? never looked at one that close.

I Finlay got my XB8 kit today. Its been a long time coming. I needed to go to South SF today close to RC Pit. I called and there was someone there so I stopped in.

If anyone needs extra parts they are stocked to the hilt!
Ill start my build in the morning.

Nice! I love the build. Never as sweet as a moment, as the last screw going in. Good luck, and let us know your opinions.

I usually post lots of pics and give my one sided opinions.
I need to sleep with the unopened box first. Its a little tradition I have. Kind of like sleeping on the couch the night after. :p:

The Xb8 rocks I've a few cars and this would have to be the best of the bunch although i havent had a play with the 777 yet

glad to hear you like the new car mike. and ill be looking forward to your opinions on the build eddy. lets see what you can break now, its your turn.

oh and eddy, pick up at least 1 conical washer for the front brace to steering plate joint. some guys have had that screw start to pull though the CF. i havent had any issues yet, but I've been thinking of getting some washers for every place that they have the CF plates countersunk.

i can only assume this fella was like me and bought overseas. got 2 kits to make sure he had spares, and now that our US kits are released is trying to recoup his investment and only buy the parts he needs. and yes 625 is a good price. RC America has set the advertised price at no less than 650 though you can find shops selling them for less. Will at www.rcpit.net is one of them. just call around for prices.

Thanks for the tip.
I have a bag of washers that I keep just for this reason.

How is the CF holding up?
Is it peeling yet or did you sand and seal the edges?

i was a bit of a prick and decided to see just how good xrays "luxury" buggy was. i didnt do a damn thing to anything, i just put it together. so far no peeling at all, CF is holding up much better than the CF on my swift. I've broken both the front plate and radio plate on that buggy with lesser hits than my XB8 has taken with no damage at all. heck i bent the chassis, front cvd bone and broke the radio plate all in one hit with the swift that i would have considered a medium hit. so far the only damage the xray has suffered was at the hands of that mbx-5 about a month back.

oh and i got 1.5 gallons out of my clutch bearings before my better judgment took over and i concieded to replace them. still worked just gritty.

dont waste your time with the .9 clutch springs dig the 1.0s out of your last #'d bag. also shocks should be built with 1.4 pistons (non-conical) and 45wt up front and 30wt out back. again no diff onrings on the planatary gears and 5-7-1 oils. if you have some laying around, swap out the screws that hold the brake pads, they are full threaded :-( and add springs if you feel like it.

gene hickersons setup will get you started. he should have his production car here in a few weeks so a better setup will be soon to follow after that (he's been using a prototype thus far that handles differently than production kits) the setup included in your kit is magnus palson's and is WAY off for the production kit.

thats all for now.

thanks for the info guys on some of the stuff... please lemmeknow more in the future...

How well does the XB8 steer compared to the 777? What are the pro's and con's of each?

XB8 is lighter.. kyosho steers better but you wont see the difference... um the Xb* jumps better.. its more stable i hear.. and thats it i guess.. . oh and the kyosho MP777's price will make you cry

I received my XB8 today, so far I have built the diffs and the front and rear transmission this kit is such a breeze to build so far. Thanks to Will and the rest of the people up at rcpit for the great deal on the XB8, I would recommend anyone looking to get this kit to look there first.

Here is a pic of what I have done so far.
