Xray XB8 or jammin X1-cr ?

yeah I have all that already...I LOST the right side steering link somewhere....I snapped 2 teeth from the center spur.....cracked the wing mount....snapped the radio tray where the transponder mount screws in.....and stripped the steering servo mount holes...none of the typical damage....so it kind of sucks when you go to buy something and it's not right there....

GDC02 if you want an ofna that's close to an XB8 or mugen you will drop serious coin in it...I did my 9.5 pro and it was espensive....and it still doesn't even compare to the Xray......if you can just get the xray...they're releasing the raycer version so you can upgrade the parts as needed....

wow, you did break some wierd parts. i wouldnt really expect to find most of them in a shop anyway.

didn't you guys loose those steering links more times ???

that's what happened to mine....I got tagged in a corner and it just popped off....I went nuts looking for it cause I knew it was that hudy steel which isn't cheap....never found it.....I wouldn't have expected to find the oddball parts like that either but as soon as I finished looking for each of those the next words spoke to me were ...we have it for the mugen.......friggin mugens AAAAGGGHHH...well I got a set of mugen diff gears and they are supposed to be the same sizes as the Xray's...we'll find out tonight....I have a friend bringing a radio and Rx/an VZ-b (not the V-spec) and I have to slap it all in and set up the radio and rebuild a diff before I can run tonite....fuckin hell I just want to run it already...2 weeks w/ no track time is getting to be a lot already......

dude, if it werent for bad, luck, you'd have no luck at all! my xray has only forced me to sit out 1 week so far since i built it last year, and that was my fault for not ordering a part in time. all this with ZERO xray support locally. our lhs barely supports ofna, kyosho, and GS 1/8th scales.

oh the 2 weeks isn't from my buggy it's my RG...I ran it w/o checking the shims...the last 3 I got were shimmed for 30% right outta the box....this one wasn't....I caught it in time so I just needed a pinch and conrod....but it still sucks to have it go in 2 gallons....I ordered th enew parts today for it and my friends selling me a Vz-b for 150 w/ 2 gallons and a whole clutch / shoe / spring / CB setup so I just need to drop it in...he ran this in his XB8 until he got a mega so it's shimmed for the right length already......and yeah I do have poop luck w/ this stuff....if it weren't so damned fun when I get those perfect running days I would have quit months ago....

Plaidfish/ Booyah/ other guys

about the play on xb8
I mean : on a brandnew xb8
up front, when I move/rock gently the front wheelaxle, I notice the bearings move in the steering blocks, I would like them to be tight in there
rear the same, when I move/rock the upper camber link, I see the all and the rear hub carrier move a bit on the susp.pins below
is this the same on yours ??

I'm sorry to ask again, but this really bothers me to enjoy a xb8 :bored:

I dunno I like the set up I have but Ineed to rebuild my diffs tonite anyway....I just had another engine defect and it's really pissing me off...I think I'm gonna bit the bullet monday and get me a V-spec or P5....not sure wich yet...but as far as how my car handles...it's awsome....I like it better than the mugens I've tried...but the availability on parts is turning into a big suck fest right now.....
hehehe is that RG giving you strife again plaid,
guys cars you have driven must have sucked big time

get the P5 over the v-spec, better engine and i think here about the same price or a little cheaper, I've just put one in the prospec and MAN!!!!!! does it go, reliable as hell and 8 minutes to the tank, as long as your not hard on it the entire time

well I screwed myseld out of that one...I found my radio was th ecause of my loss of brakes not the servo or the Rx.....so I had to order a new Tx....and I thought I'd go cheap and cheerful w/ a used mill (I never buy used Mills or electronics) and the rear main bearing went in 1 night.....now I have a VZ-b an RG and a Fantom all down.....anyone have a rear main bearing and Conrod for a VZb (not V-spec)? I'm waiting for a deal to go through on a P5 w/ a Jammin Pipe for my MBX-5....hope it happens soon...I'm fiending for a fast mill now that I ran the fantom in my buggy......I miss that on comand power band on top.....

for the vz-b bearing, go to www.amainhobbies.com get a boca replacement. iirc the measurements are 25.4x14 for the rear bearing. once you get it ill tell ya how to replace it if you dont know already. the v-spec conrod is also a direct fit, in fact you can fit all the vspec internals if you want in the original vzb case, makes a nice sleeper motor.

gdc02, if you havent run the buggy yet try getting it dirty, belive it or not that will actually tighten up some of the tolerances. id like some pics of what your describing though, because it sounds like your describing bearings that are a loose fit, and they shouldnt be, mine all fit tight in thier seats. camber links on the balls will be a lil loose at first though. also if you want you can use washers to shim the arms to remove fore and aft slop between the aluminum mounting blocks if there is any, my car had none, i know others had a little.

yes bearings are loose fit
I can see them moving say 0.5 mm in the steering blocks, so the axles and cvds go up and down also

NOT IN MINE THEY DON"T...they were very tight to get in actually....Xray craftsmanship is among the best in the world......

remedy to the cracking kingpins by Chim-Chim:
I may have a fix for the broken kingpin problem. I have found two reasons that support
the cracking on these pins. The first one is that there is some play on the wheel hub
adapter.(pull your wheel forward and back while holding the lower arm). This play allows
the wheel to move lateraly putting excess stress on the lower kingpin(try this and look
at the lower kingpin while you move the wheel, it rocks back and forth on the hub, cracking the pins.)
A narrow shim between the bearing and hub adapter should help remedy the problem. Another thing you can try
is grinding out the narrow bridge that the pin rides on, increasing the surface area inside the hub. What do you guys
think, let me know.

or putting a bit of silicone glue unde the pins ?????should hold vibrations off

Thanks for posting the bit on wha the pros run, i was down to a hyper7 PCR or jammen c1... it seems the jammen is just as good as kyosho or mugen... so those must be the top 3 if thats what thr pros race.... ima dump 500 into the jammen, bash the motor so i can get a sirio later >:D
