What!? Gorilla fingers McGee who hates micros/minis and anything in between got an SCX30?

Well, my wife and kids went to Hobbytown and picked it out to gift me for Christmas. So I have to love it….right?

Turns out, I do love it. Don’t tell anyone…

Yes.
Very nice, and of course I love the color, it kind of reminds me of.......me. :D

Wow those are so tiny! I'm still on the fence about getting one.
I was against it when they were announced because I thought there was no way they would drive anything like a bigger crawler. I thought they were gimmicky toys. But I was very wrong. The stock motor/ESC combo is smooth and the suspension works and responds how you would expect if it were a larger scale.

The minis are truly addicting. So much fun!
You should try a built scx24 and see what they are capable of, its insane 😎

I'm sire with all the aftermarket support these new scx30's have they probably are too 😁

Today, I thought “how could I make myself totally miserable while having fun at the same time? No, no, not a family vacation to Disney….installing some SCX30 upgrades!”

So I grabbed the nearest glasses repair kit screw driver and tweezers and started ripping the truck apart…

Here’s where I end the day. I’ve just had enough at this point and the front end will be even more work than the rear…so it can wait.

Everything is new Injora parts. Aluminum skid, bent aluminum link kit, and stainless driveshafts. Just trying to add a little bit of weight down low to see how it impacts the truck.

Don't sneeze, or you will never find all of those screws!

I like it but, I am going to leave well enough alone on that one! 🤣
Those little screws are just gone when you drop em’. 🤷‍♂️

Luckily, if you buy any upgrades, you end up with about 200 spare screws, it seems. 😅

I've got an extremely nice set of micro Snap On screwdrivers I have Never found a use for...
I may have finally just found a way to justify those sucker's!
I have found that my micro drivers don't work on everything on the truck. I had to break out the glasses repair kit to use that driver for the screws holding the links to the skid.

Never thought about it, but.....
Phillips screws that tiny? Don't want one anymore. I'm out!
My fat arthritic fingers have a hard enough time with hex screws that will at least stay on a driver...
Luckily the tiny phillips are all pretty long so that helps...a tiny bit.

You have to thoroughly enjoy tinkering to enjoy working on these tiny guys.

Finished it up today. Lots more clearance with both the front and rear lowers being bent. I’m also noticing more front weight bias with the heavier bits installed. Should be a solid climber now.
