Just like anything else, the SCX30 can be modified for both visual and performance gain. Show off what you have done to your pocket sized money pit.

I knew I would get one eventually, it is the neatest little thing. Axial took some flaws of the SCX24 and left em behind.

I am currently working on some “mods”. Stay tuned!

I got one for Christmas, the white Jeep.
Haven't don't anything with it, YET. I currently have three 24's that I am working on and I have heard these 30s are tricky to work on.
I have seen some amazing things on Facebook though

I am having some fun with it, though. Took it to a hobby shop last weekend that has a 1/24 course. Also had it out last night climbing on some of the `/24 obstacles I made

The crawler course I made for the 24’s and 18’s is too much for this little guy. It can’t even make it onto the course - too many large boulders.
I may try a better brushed motor in the future but I think I will leave most of it alone. It just needs a little weight down low, and injora is supposed to be releasing some wheels for it soon.

I had mine on the crawler course I made and I could do about half. Definitely needs some down weight.
I have the white JLU 24 and plan on making them look very similar.

I did pick this toy up at the Salvation Army last night for $1

Just a little too small. I might try to replicate it on my 3D printer and make it a bit bigger

So far, I have:
  • Painted my stock wheels with a gold paint pen.
  • Hacked the body with a Dremel to turn the Wrangler into a truck with a 3D printed a bed cover and rear window/cab cover that utilizes the stock rear glass.
  • Working on installing some upgrades but nothing special to see there, yet.

I picked up some tungsten puddy from the fishing section in cabelas.
Squash it onto the axle housings to add weight down low. I added about 15 grams of weight total.
If you can’t see it, I also raised the rear links to the top ball position on the rear axle for the most anti squat available.

2 big ol’ bawlz meticulously placed.

Sounds like an issue of scales... you need to hit that course with an 1/8 scale nitro MT for a few. 😲🤣

The little guy should have no more issues afterward. 😉😁

Tip for anyone upgrading to a brushless system:

This parts bag contains a flat slider to replace the stock electronics/slider unit on the passenger side of the frame.

It comes as an included spare part in the new Chevy trucks. I'm going to submit a ticket to Horizon customer service politely asking for a free slider since they should have included it in the first batch as well. I'll report back.

Mine was waiting on me when we got home from vacation yesterday. I also snagged the Pro Line BFG tires at a hobby shop during our travels. I already modded those for a wider track width, I wish they'd just come that way, but oh well.

I also noticed that literally in one hour of playtime, that my body has stress marks from taking it on and off. I'm going to email Axial about this issue.

Mine have those as well. I am not too worried about that.
What I worry about is the shocks. I try to pull on the chassis to remove the body. Most people grab the servo which is easy to get a finger on but, it puts all the stress on the shocks when you pull the body off.
Have you tested both sets of tires to see which one performs better?

Yep, good point on the servo. I need to pay attention where I'm grabbing it since it's so tiny. The crazy wire ties they tie it down in the box with were tangled in my front knuckles big time and were a PITA to get loose.

I haven't tried both sets of tires honestly. I will mod the factory wheels the same way and test them when I get some time outdoors on actual rocks. For now it's mostly dining room table, and quilt crawling. LOL

Sucks about the stress marks.

It kinda does, could be how I"m doing it also, not sure. I would be more understanding of it in six months time, not the first night with it. But again, could be a user error, I didn't read the instructions. LOL

Prybar first, instructions last... you are correct. 🤔👍🤣

I hold mine by the rear tires and smack it against the nearest hard object until the body flies off. 70% of the time it works every time.
