Well I guess some people are fine with cords that burn down houses and Faulty software pre-instaled in thier 400 dollar systems.
Sony, allthough they sometimes arent exactly spot-on in thier utilities are an all around great manufacturer. Being an extremly avid gamer I have beta tested several of thier game products, including the PlayStation 2 pre release units and the entire SOCOM franchise. Compared to the shortcommings of Microsoft the Playstation 3 looks like it will be a truly outstanding piece of equipment. As to the controler statement listed above, I don't know what you saw or where you go your information, but Sony has used one single consistient design througout ALL of thier platform series, and based on the information provided ny Ziper Inc and PiggyBack the controlers, though "elongated" in a fasion will be the core design from years past.
Along with the amazing games SONY has license to (SOCOM, Burnout, and some of the other famous multiplayers like Ratchet and Clank) they are working on plans to aquire the Zelda series. IMO the Zelda collection are some of the best games ever created. I have and ways been a fan. nintendo simply does not have the desire to make anymore, trying to draw from an empty well is useless, so they are planning to turn it over to someone more capable of developing.
the Sony Playstation 3 will also support online features, even the ability to browse the internet. unlike the X-Box 360 the PS3 will come, complete with all the bells and whisltes. No need to pay more for the harddrive. They realize that just like in the past the Microsoft corporation is trying to run a "mini monopoly" by selling things the are esential to gameplay at a higher price.
Now on to the games we go. Wow, who would have thought we would see the arival of a 60 dollar game? why Bill Gates of course. Due to the high capacity disks that Microsoft used to trump thier last big problem (extremely short games on the X-Box) the cost of producing them is a lot higher. Sony is sticking with a proven format. if you compare the X-box (1st gen, not 360) screenshots with that of a Nintendo gamecube you have virtually no diffrence. Sony will NOT be focusing on better graphics for the next gen console. X-Box 360 admitidley has that trumped by a good distance. Notice when looking inside you X-Box the astounding lack of Microsoft manufactured parts? Sony has all around always been abou t alonger, more immersed gameplay function. More entertainment value.
Need for speed Most Wanted: X-Box 360, the graphics are AMAZING. but, the game is about three hours shorter than the current playstation 2. there are less vehicles available and Microsoft even had to produce a non multiplayer version to cope with the X-box 360's problems. I find it rather unnerving that you can take the system that just came out- the x-box and compare it to something Sony developed four years ago and still find esentially no diffrences beside what? Graphics. wow. A brand new system can Barely keep up with something that was developed years ago.
If that does not shake your faith in the unsinkable Microsoft then you better wear your lifejacket just for the hell of it- cause this captain is going down with his boat.
