I can't burn any CD's any more???I uninstalled the crappy program that came with my pc and installed NEro.It woked great for about 4 months and now it will not burn a cd anymore. It used to take 2 minutes to burn a whole CD now it takes an hour and when it's done the CD is blank but it has been writen on and can't be reused?Without my burner I can't backup any of my files or make any new CD's.I don't think it's the program because i've tried several versions of Nero, the original program and a few other burning programs as well and they all do the same thing? And I don't think it's the drive because it will still play CD's and CD-ROMS.WTF is wrong with it?I'm getting really sick of this computer. The only thing that evers seems to work right is the internet.Stupid HP didn't give me any of the driver discs or the OS disc so I can't even wipe out the system and start over. All I want to do is copy all my stuff and clear the whole system and start over. Can someone please help me out?

It could still be the burner, I had a older sony burner do the same thing would read fine but would not write, if you have $40 just get a lite on burner and be done with the problem, or you could try calling hp and see what b.s. they tell you.

If you are looking to re-format...most company's don't include the OS on a separate disk. Since its a system from a big company like HP most likely there is a restore disk. This will wipe your system clean and your system should look like the day you first removed it from the box and turned it on. You might want to confirm that with HP tech support. If you are going to restore make sure you back up any files, which will be a pain since your burner is not working great. The only way for you to truly test that the burner is bad would be to install it in another computer. Its not like you have a lot of options but if you can get a hold of someone from tech support they will hopefully help you.
