I started building this 2 years ago but at 1 point I just stopped. I think with the right components this would work.

OH heck yeah, fun project. Throw a Holmes Hobbies motor in there and you will have it made. ;)
 
I think with the power you will have, you are going to twist the frame into a pretzel. The WPL frame rails are made out of chewing gum, and the only reason the frame works is because the body holds it from twisting, and the motor in the WPL is gutless. I would suggest you brace the heck out of the frame.

That's why I abandoned the project. I realized the frame wasn't very good for this.
 
The frame looks pretty basic. Maybe head to your local home store and purchase some steal to grind out a stronger copy of the original?
