After completely dis-assembling my stock B01 Storm engine, I wanted to see if I could save it. This is what's wrong/damaged:

-front bearing slips in/out of block easily (lots of slop)
-no compression at all
-piston and sleeve scored deeply (piston/rod clip missing)
-pitting on top of piston (residue front piston clip I think)

I think that the piston/rod clip came loose during a run and that's what caused the scoring. It was my first nitro and I struggled with the tuning. The temps and revs got too high too often. So I think that is why the front bearing slips in/out easily. I may have just damaged the bearing or even worse expanded the block. If the block is damaged, then I can answer my own question and trash this thing. If it was just a bearing, piston, and sleeve that I needed, is it worth saving ? Thanks.

Have you figured the cost of rebuilding it? I think that if the cost exceeds 100 bucks then a new mill is the way to go and save that for fixin later. EBAY is a beautiful but hazardous to RC Enthusiasts' wallets.

I agree with jon. In a lot of cases, rebuilding is more costly than buying new. Especially on an engine that is under $150. Add up what a piston/sleeve, conrod and main bearing cost. Should probably throw a one-way in there and a starter shaft as it's probably worn as well.

Then if you do buy all that stuff, cross your fingers and hope you don't need a new crankcase.

who knows. You may run into the same mill but complete for cheaper. I have seen my old MT12 on ebay for like 45 bucks and brand new I would have spent close to 200 bucks. Just save the mill and see if someone comes around with one to sell that is in good condition.
