This time of year I really need indoor stuff to keep me busy. Recent physical issues have forced me to part ways with some of my other hobbies and really push rc into the foreground. Fortunately that's a move I'm pretty ok with. Many of my current projects are either done, or nearly done and I have been on the hunt for more. I have had 1 truck that has been on the top of my list ever since I first saw it. The struggle has been real to get my hands on 1. Finding the $$, finding the truck.....putting my hands on the truck at the lhs only to find it had been opened and someone had stolen the wheels out of the box. Kyosho, tower hobbies, and horizon all show it as in stock until you try and pay....then paypal denies the transaction and says you can't use them to pre-order or backorder things. I finally found 1 available through the kyosho America ebay seller. The payment went through...and now, in theory I will have a truck that for all of this I hope can live up to my quest to acquire it.

The kyosho outlaw rampage 2wd. A legit trophy truck style platform. Solid rear axle, independent front suspension, sway bars, to functional spares that can be used as weight balance in 0,1,and 2 wheel configurations in the back.
This truck is probably as close as I will get to shelf queen ...maybe ever. It's not a basher, or something that will excel at most offroad tracks currently available. It's for those of us who are fascinated by real trophy trucks and want to watch high speed suspension soak up bumps and rugged terrain with ease, not land a 20ft jump off a skate ramp.
I will often have rerun vids of the mint 400, and baja 1000 playing in the background as I build my toys. To watch as trucks like this keep the body level as the shocks and tires soak up uneven bumps as tall as the hood while the body stays level is just awesome.
Personally I expect trucks made in this fashion have a smaller following due to the lack of understanding on what kind of driving it is meant to handle. Then it performs poorly, or breaks and people get frustrated.
A lot of people think my sandmaster looks cool, but don't make the connection that it looks like class 1 sandrail, also seen at the mint etc.
I don't need to go to a skatepark if I can watch a 10th scale version of this all day.

These were available earlier this year. It does seem like they have dried up.
Let us know what you think when you get it.
I got a good look at the parts due to the open box model at the lhs, and lost zero enthusiasm for acquiring it. Doesn't mean it will be a win unless properly matched with the right motor etc. I will keep you up once it arrives.
I doubt this is a dying class of rc. It seems Australia is catching on to how awesome trophy trucks are, and has stadium style racing. It's only a matter of time before our boys are exploring the outback at 120mph. World wide exposure should get some more rc trophy rigs out there.

Super cool! The nose looks like an old Dodge.

Fingers crossed it arrives pristine 🙂
Thanks! Advertising says it's a 80s trophy truck body, of no particular branding. This is the pro kit. So I have to build it, and it comes with the cut out bed, as well as the extra rack and 2 spare tires. The rtr comes with none of that. Big thumbs up to kyosho giving people real incentive to do the work!

Kyosho RULES!!!

I love that you stepped outside the 'buggy box' for this! These trucks look awesome! I can't wait to hear your review!

I'm glad you worked out the purchase!

CONGRATS!!!😎👍😁
Thanks! I am excited to get my hands on this finally. There are zero appropriate tracks near me for this, however 1 of the things I dont do anymore is bowhunt/archery in general......which means I know the woods around here. It'll get me back out among the trees, and I know where there is a perfect spot of mixed terrain that has a shape I can imagine a loop in no problem.

There are some quarrys around me. I need to talk to the owner of one nearby. They do antique tractor pulls and other stuff... I wonder if they would let me run RCs there. 🤔

I would love to see some vids of this truck running! Sounds like your spot is ideal!!! 😎

Yep, nothing flat. Brush/ tall grass that will obscure your view a bit. There is like a 6 ft hill that leads to the upper trails that I am sure you can get some modest air off with a landing in probably 4 inch deep sand....as it should be. Probably an awkward figure 8.

That is a very nice looking truck!

Trophy trucks are a blast... I have the Losi Baja Rey 2.0 in the Isenhouer livery. I'm also a fan of desert racing... Baja, King of the Hammers, Dakar, etc. The R/C trophy trucks in action look more "real" to me than most other vehicles. I've watched this video of the Losi many times:

Finding a convenient place to run a 1/10 trophy truck is sometimes a challenge for me. Like you, I know a lot of woods spots, but they're more suited for a trail runner/crawler, so I'm building an H10 Optic kit.

BTW... I'm also a former bowhunter. Age and bad shoulders have me putting the hobby aside; back to rifle hunting. I'm ready to gift my favorite recurve (Hoyt Gold Medalist adapted for hunting) to a buddy's grandson.

I would pick up a baja ray at some point if the opportunity comes up. Probably a udr while I am at so I can have the trophy truck trifecta.
I have a good number of bows. 1 I made from scratch. Alternating layer of ipe, and maple, with a black fiberglass backer, elk horn tip overlays, and flemish twist string. You will probably enjoy this too...

Near mint 1972 bear super Kodiak mag. In 45lb

Very cool. I also have a pile of bows including some old Bears. :thumbs-up: I even have two "modern" compounds and killed a few whitetails with a Mathews Q2. 🦌

Speaking of killing stuff.....
I watched some footage of I think the baja1000. There was 1 of top guys flying through the desert. Turned a random wandering cow into pink mist at about 100mph.

If someone gets a trophy truck track together. Please ...for the sake of added realism, have a car of little value painted, or wrapped like a cow, hand the remote to a random 5 year old and tell him to surprise everyone driving straight through the race.

I used to road race motorcycles (WERA Sprint Series) in the mid '80s. At a race at Road Atlanta, a guy hit a deer. The folks back in the paddock didn't believe him, so he rode out to the top of the hill and brought the carcass back, draped over his fuel tank. 😄
